Hi guys,

I would like to hear what you guys say about the Camber 2014 model & If there are maybe "better" options? (give reasons).

Yes, all depends on riding style + where you ride. In short Jonkershoek (90% of the time) & surrounding trails in Cpt.

Currently on a HT , but keen to get something more play full / comfy / easier on my lower back BUT also still "race ready" to do a couple of stage races & one day events.

All the reviews I have read are very positive, but there is no review like a thehub review

Price will be +- R60k for the expert ( R40k for the carbon comp)

Here is a cool video

Just FYI if you can ride like those guys in the video get the Epic. I reckon the Giant Anthem 27.5 with 11 speed would be a great bike for your purpose.

FYI I already bought the Camber. (And I'm LOVING IT!!!!!)

Would you care to explain your logic regarding getting the Epic? Did not look at 27.5 as I am 194cm... & prefer the bigger wheel. Thanks

Yes. What Epic do you have now? Are you looking at the camber comp carbon?

I do alot of the same type of riding and I understand were you coming from. However for R60K I would rather suggest the Specialized Epic Elite. Same price but it has a front and rear brain. Magura brakes and sram ox 2x10 Groupset. Carbon frame and alli rear stay and wheels. You wont find it on specialized web site but they do exist. I bought mine a month ago and loving it! Feel free to PM or call me if you have any questions

been riding the 2013 epic comp carbon. Looking at the 2014 camber comp carbon, but am worried i will get left behind by my mates. Although am seeking a more comfortable ride ( lower back issues etc) i do love the single track tech stuff though.

Hi Ride4life, it sounds like you are talking to me? Thanks for the advise, but I allready bought the camber expert.. Full XO groupset 2x10, carbon crank , formula brakes, roval control carbon wheels, dropper seat post, fox ctd front & back, swat multitool & chainbreaker in my stem for less than 60k. The bike climbs beter than my alu Hardtail I had. Really happy with my decision.

Enjoy riding your beast! ;)

You wont get left behind. My one friend rides an Epic sworks and I dont have any problems when it comes to the climbs. We have the same fitness levels so if you do get left behind its not the bikes fault. Try and find out when the next test the best day is so that you can take the bike for a spin..

I am sorry but that makes no sense. The epic expert is R65k and comes with carbon wheels. Which is a massively expensive item. better still, shop around and get the marathon epic for under R70 000 with top spec parts and a much better frame, just one step below s works. Thats if you want a epic. Which I dont.

Put a dropper post on it.

The Cambers are superb, however, stay away from the entry level ones. They are too heavy, I have my eye on the new S -works camber, they tested it and it weighed 10,46kg. That is with a dropper post and trail tyres. Thats just a little bit heavier than a s works epic. These things are xc racers one day, and trail bikes the next day. Edited by Johny Bravo
