Eish, sorri to hear DIPS...is it a recent or old injury

Depends what kind of op you have, are they going to sow up the tear or just clean up the damaged bits?

Don't want to be a professor of doom BUT I had a torn meniscus op (tear was stitched up and damaged bits removed) in January and was out of action for over 12 weeks, was on crutches for a lot of the time....

Well - that assumes a partial menisectomy under an arthroscope - if it's a complete menisectomy done open, then it's a longer... guess you will find out soon.... :)

Get a second opinion on that.... possible there is more to it than just cartilage damage...

He had to have the op done within 5 days of the accident.

For Ligament injuries, usually the quicker the better - especially if they tear at the bone, then an early repair means they generally heal ok - better than the results with artificial ligaments in any case.

Proper rehab is critical to the long term results too.

I was out of the game for 5 years - various reasons. I have had +/- 2months to train for the 94.7 and I was absolutely shattered. So in my case - more than 2 months.

Depends on what training you do. When my daughter was born I took a break from May to Sept. Then went to Suikerbosrand once a week at midday till the week before 94.7 and managed well (2:51). That place makes you strong for anything.
