Ok So you guys are all doing your own build threads so I'm gonna follow suit.

Here is the donor bike.

And most of the bits are going onto this puppy.

The build at this point is planned to be something like this

Frame: Intense Tracer M

Shock: Fox DHX 5 Air. This is coming off the donor bike. I want a nice high volume can for France

Fork: RS Lyrik R2D2 (From the donor bike)

Brakes: Hope M4 (From the donor bike)

Rotors: Shimano Ice Tech 203 (From the donor bike)

Crank Set: Gravity DH for now (From the donor bike)

Shifting stuff: Shmano Zee. I'll also change to a Zee crank set when the money comes. Raceface Narrow Wide front chainring

Chainguide. C-Sixx top guide. Yes Yes Strictly speaking I shouldn't need one but some of the trails in France are ROUGH and all my biking purchases are aimed directly at the big F

Seatpost: KS 950 (From the donor bike)

Wheels: Superstar Cheapies (From the donor bike)

Headset: Cane Creek 40 series. Lucky I kept mine in my box of spares

Stem: Bear Arm

Bars: Renthal Fatbar. (From the donor bike) I'll probably swap that out to a Deity Black Label or whatever the equivalent is when the money comes

just a question

For a bike like that why dont you flog the superstars and build up a set of Hope Hubs with Arch EX?

Just from a weight perspective - or you could even use the Flow EX's

Im not sure of the weight of the Superstar wheels offhand - but I'd like a build like that to be light as well as strong.

So I'd also go for XT cranks rather than ZEE.

I'll just reply on behalf of OM:

Because, ski lifts.

What he ^^^^ said.

I have a set of ZTR Flow rims in the Garage that I might build up but it's unlikely I'll do that. if anything I'm going to build 650b wheels. The Tracer is apparently 650b compatible.

Oh and I hate the sound Hope hubs make.

Oh - the superstar also have reinforced eyelets... For, like, Ski Lifts and stuff...

100% Function First. Weight is very much a secondary consideration for me.

The SuperStar Switch Evo FRONT hub with 20mm adapters is 195g (according to their site), while the Hope Pro 2 Evo comes in at 185g (but with QR adapters in place).

The SuperStar Switch Evo Front REAR with QR axle fitted is 299g (according to their site, 27 point engagement points), while the Hope Pro 2 Evo comes in at 285g (but with QR adapters in place and only 24 engagement points).

I don't think the hubs are the issue here... :whistling:

I should have weighed mine (set of SuperStar Switch Evos) before I built them up for actual weights

I think it converts to 650b by replacing those pricery G1 drop outs.
