I have never understood this. if you take the front wheels off don't they fit in the bakkie any more? There are quick release brackets you can fit to a piece of flat bar and away you go.

Yes they do - but ...

1. - you can fit more bikes in this way

2. - you dont need to take the wheels off

3. - a lot of bikes are now coming out with either 15mm or 20mm thru-axle front forks that dont fit the conventional quick release brackets.

4. - you dont need to loosen the stem to turn the bars to fit in more that 3 bikes as the wheel is turned over the tailgate already

5. - you dont need to custom make a bracket for the back of your bakkie - here you just strap the mat onto the trailgate and off you go

Even with wheels on they fit in my bakkie, but its the same principle as putting your bike on your roof, except, this is for the baggy wearing crowd, haha

Id like to see you fit 5 bikes comfortably on your car roof.

.... oh and i can also drive in under those height restriction barriers ... cars with bikes on the roof cant ... seen it happen at the Pavillion ... not pretty when its a brand new bike and it hits the height restriction barrier.

Got to have a bakkie and one of those mats if you're a mountain biker Spruit Rat. Makes life a lot easier. just throw the bike on the back and go.

p.s. Lock your bikes down boys. You live in SA.

Fixed.

I've never ridden the spruit. I wouldn't know where it is. I have one of those mats and they work great.

Sorry just a (tongue in cheek) dig at people thinking that downhill is the only 'true mountain biking' :)

The mats look awesome, and I'm sure that if Pretoria ever pulls it's collective finger out of it's collective arse and fix Klapperkop and/or 139, we'd use those all the time. Klapperkop has so much potential for a rad downhill track, there's one spot that I keep riding past thinking "road gaaaaaaap" ....

For now, however, we stick to being "dirt roadies" ...

We realised that ... ... but then again ... this tail gate mat is not designed just for DH riders ....

The beauty with it is that it can fit any bike ... with ANY wheelsize, and any Fork combination!!!

EVEN ROAD BIKES ... :whistling:

Fit a bike to it and post a pic of it here please.... My imagination is like deep space, I just can't seem to picture what it looks like... :w00t:

hahaha

ok here are 2 pics of how we load the bikes ... they are not this exact mat as there are no bike strap hoops for the down tubes ...

But you get the idea.

I will load some of my bikes later onto the new mat to show you if you want - but im sure this gives you a good idea.

Ok, now I understand the point of the loops on the top of the tailgate... Thanx bud, very cool concept....

Thanks Octavian, I have plenty spades and shovels and trail picks and bospikke. I've done more than my share of building thigs, but will continue to build and fix.
