If you ride hard then i recommend ZTR

If you are gentle on your bike

Riding hard with finesse is what some might misconstrue as gentle.

And riding gently without being smooth is what some misconstrue as riding hard.

I am not the weight of a flea and I have not needed to do anything with or to my AM's after about 2000 km of riding so my experience is exactly the opposite of chukky's.

Chukky wishes he had ACs - it's just cheap bar talk

Tune King = R1700, Kong = R3500, abouk 3k less than a set of Chris Kings.

Ive done a bit of research on the interwebs: the freehub body and pawls seems to be a serious problem on Tune rear hubs, best to stay far away from a Tune rear hub. There are few reports of problems with the front hub.

Way over priced for what they are.

If you want good hubs then White Industries, Chris King, Hope and American Classic can't be beaten.

*HI-JACK*

I'm in the process of getting a new set of wheels but there's just too much to choose from. I've looked at the following:

Novatec Dragon : R5495

http://www.evobikes....9-wheelset.html

Novatec Flowtrail: R5295 with tyres

http://www.evobikes....9-wheelset.html

Easton XC70: R4495

http://www.evobikes....r-wheelset.html

American Classic : R5495

http://www.evobikes....-wheel-set.html

Shimano XT 785: R4995

http://www.evobikes....r-wheelset.html

ZTR's on Hopes for about R5500

I weigh 74kgs and love flowing/technical single track, not keen on big drop offs. All of the above wheels are within budget as I still need to get rotors and tyres.

I want a reliable set of wheels, I've got a set of ZTR Crests on SLX hubs and they've been going strong for 11months now, no problems, did not even need to be trued.

I've been thinking of just upgrading my hubs, Superstar/Hopes as I've already got the ZTR's.

Problem is on the Superstars its going to cost me about R2700 and about R3700 on Hopes, that's why I thought of getting a complete new set of wheels and then sell my existing wheels.

All advice welcome

PS: I'd really like to be heard coming down the trail...

We can also custom-built you a pair of FRM EVO Rims (same weight as Crest but have a 100kg weight limit due to a much stronger alu used) laced to Novatec D541 and D542 Hubs, built with Sapim Laser spokes - Price for a set is R4500 including TL conversion. Weight of wheelset will be 1650g - simply the best value out there!

No Body mentions Shimano's any more???

A bit more servicing required but worth it i think. They are definitely getting better every year and pricing is good

In terms of rims for tubeless you cant beet stans tho.

Now that sounds great (and a good price)

Who has got experience with the Novatec hubs/wheels?

I love the SUPERFAST engagement but it sounded so quiet while spinning in my hands.

Some say its a pain to service, is this true?
