Yes, Monday eve was a swim and Sunday morning a run so would have been in the undertrained stage I suspect

Yes I see what you mean, but then balanced means (I stand to be corrected) that all is good i.e. can carry on training without waiting to recover, but if that's the case then why the "17 hr load" what does that mean if not what I thought it means (17 hr recovery time)?

Yes....I get what your are saying.  Their definitions should be more clear I think.

Thus 17h load does not necessarily mean you are going to take 17 hours to recover.

Rather it should have some other form of "unit"......

I am guessing they want to use TSS but can't.....i.e. your training added 17 "units" to your general fitness.

"load" is a term used a LOT at Training Peaks.

That is my laymen's take on this.....

Some polar explanations on Load and recovery status

Training load is not the time to wait until sufficiently recovered to train again, it is an estimation of physiological workload expressed in time (hours) of one particular session indicating how long it will take your to body to replenish (carbs and proteins) / recover to the same state before the training session. This is based on your personal individual stats (age, weight etc...), type of sport, heart rate, duration.

My old nike+ was like that, they eventually had to tone down the sensitivity a lot to get it to work properly.

You can set the tap sensitivity for every sport profile ;)

Settings > Sport Profiles > Profile X > Sport specific tap sens.

A bit of advice needed.I was mountain biking and a slight fall upon which my V800 screen got cracked like a car windscreen.Totally upset with my self and still used it for about 2 weeks.Sent it to Polar and they put in in a new casing and even phoned me if they could upgrade the firmware and put a new stap on so it will look like it comes out of the box.+/- R1000 later I got it back and very impressed with polar.

I started using it again and on my first ride it just went dead.Thinking it came back from repairs I recharged and rode the following day.The same happened and it just switches off.

Phoned polar and said I must do a factory reset.Did it and still the same.At this time polar asked me to send it back again. They had it for about a week and said there was a software glitch and they had resolved the problem.

I got the watch back and guess what it just switches off again.Gave them benefit of the dought and charged it again but with the same results, just goes dead.

Phoned them again and polar said the technician will phone back when coming back from the Cycle tour.

On phoning me the Monday he now tells me it could have been damaged electronically by my fall.

Why did he not tell me that the second time it was sent to them.

They say I should settle a claim with my personal insurance.Polar now say they will have to replace the watch in the casing.Nearly R5000 after paying already R1000.

I am quiet disappointed with Polar as I have had all their products over the years.RS800,V600,RCX5 etc.

I only bought the watch in December .

Any advice you think I should take.Thanks.

Not nice when these expensive gadgets need repairs.

So if i understand, you dropped it and besides the cracked glass it worked like normal, then only after Polar replaced the outside casing, strap and updated the software (1st visit) did it start dying / switching off?

Does it die suddenly with no warning or do you get a battery low warning before it goes off?

I can understand that something in the internals (electronic bits) may have been damaged in the drop, but strange that it did not do the switch off thing before you gave it to Polar (that is if i have the story right). If I'm right you could try and reason with polar by saying only the glass was cracked before, and see if they wont sell you the new parts at a discounted price or trade in the old watch for a new one.

How much does a complete new unit cost?

Thanks SwissVan.You understood the story correctly. No low battery warning, just switches off.The only thing I can think off is the upgraded firmware.I wonder if it is posible to go back to the old version software and see what happens after that.As I said it was working totally fine with the cracked screen.

I can't see any maps or graphs of my sessions in PolarFlow, just me? or is there an issue with the site at the moment?

Ja it was working normal yesterday.

ON a different note, I saw something new on my V800, while riding my road bike the screen changed from the normal view (speed, distance, HR) to the next screen showing Altitude, meters climbed, temp.... when I hit a bump, happened a few times and I kept wondering why the thing was showing another screen sometimes....after selecting my normal screen I saw it change again as soon as I went over a small bump.... I don't remember it doing this on my MTB a few days ago. Anyone seen this?

Not sure if it has something to do with the tap sensitivity..?

Ja ek sal moet kyk

I've never fiddled with the tap setting before, last thing I fiddled with was about 2 or 3 months ago when I set it to turn the light on when (in the run mode) I held the watch in front of the chest transmitter...handy for when you run in the dark
