Amazing service from Cyclefunatic Specialized Cycling shop Durbanville

I am one of “those people” who regularly have a mouthful to say about the poor levels of service one regularly experience in our country .

So I must admit that what I am about to do is a painful experience ..

I have bought a Specialized Epic from Cyclefunatics ( a local cycling shop in Durbaville) mid 2013 , and have been enjoying this bike tremendously . During October/November , the bike has picked up a clicking/creaking sound . I am sure the rest of you “professional” , serious , weekend cyclist out there, understands this small irritation , and how quickly it can become an irritation of biblical proportions..

Cyclefunatics , have done their best to sort this out , sometimes with very little lead time or bench time ( as the weekend was again approaching). This problem unfortunately persisted and made life exceptionally difficult for me and the workshop manager. ( 4 times we tried)

I went on leave on the 22nd of December , and received the bike back on that day after a further search for what by now was called a &^%@## creak .. . We all believed the problem was found ..

The Epic however had other ideas !

Went for a ride in Stilbaai ( our chosen holiday spot) on the day of our arrival , and low and behold the noise was back . I decided to keep on riding ( maybe it will sort itself out ..), but on the 25th , the creaking noise now got to a level where other cyclist would make way , because ( I am sure) they thought a truck was coming !

I decided to phone Deon ( the owner) of the shop on the 26th December … heartless I know , but I am in Stilbaai and there is NO Specialized agency there !

Now the bit about the amazing service !

Deon firstly.. TOOK MY CALL … a day after Christmas !!

Heard the panic/hysterical tone in my voice ( It was almost weekend again !!) , and took action .

Now hear this …

I had a Specialized Stumpjumper ( set up according to kept measurements), driven up from Durbanville and DELIVERED TO ME ON THE 27th IN STILBAY !!

My Epic was picked up and sorted out !!

Deon , to you and your team at Cyclefunatics , I can only express my greatest appreciation for a level of service that is unheard of.

Now you ALL know why I have been a client, and friend, from the days of a little snot nosed sales person, that gave the best service in CT @Willie Enelbrecht all those years ago. It is great to see that others have discovered this GEM of a LBS.

ROCK on Deon

PS, he now has me on a Stumpy!

Great story, but listen to this.

In December 2012 I bought a Spez Tarmac, NOT from Deon, and took it down to CPT for the holidays.

On Xmas morning, my old man and I were getting ready for my first ride on my new baby only to realize I had the wrong cleats for the pedals on the bike. In a panic we called Deon, yes on Christmas Day, 25th Dec!!

As above not only did he answer, he told us to meet him at his shop. Within 15 minutes he had gone and opened his shop, just so that I could buy a R100 set of Keo cleats and go for a ride........

That is serious service. If I lived in CPT he would get EVERY bit of my business!

Sadly only one page of replies for great service and 10+ pages for poor service...

Never been to Deon's shop, but lucky enough to get the same kind of service from Alpha Beta Cycles here in Kimberley. Every time.

Would defs make a turn at Deon's shop when in CT- good on you sir!

Deon is great to deal with and the shop is always busy (there is good coffee while you wait  ) but he will find time to help you. I just bought my second Epic from him and it's been great dealing with all of them . And as a added bonus Irma is there and does GREAT! bike setup's (just remember to book early)
