The Hub SA - What has it become, and where is it going?

Carpet I know this is an odd question, and I know what the "hub" definition of nude is, but what is yours? What do you define as nudity ?

The definition of nudity to anyone is when the body is not clothed , no need to look for a loophole.

Nudity has the same definition regardless of who the person is

Also working in Zululand, and continuing work in the townships, I have context that says the word is used respectfully.

So your context should have preference above others' that feel offended ?

Posted

of course

Why does it matter how I feel? I am not complaining. He is. I just defend his right to complain about feeling offended, and to ask for the rules to be applied consistently.

 , sheesh Topwine, I had to read that twice.

You are defending his right to complain. Got it.

You want consistent rules. Got it.

What was your complaint again ?

not at all - but where do you draw the line ?

if everybody who is offended reports everybody else, quoting everything else from somewhere else, who else do we have left (or right), as the case may be ?

That's it, the lines are not clearly defined. Blame lawyers for this. But that is the way as it stands in the rules. So change it, but in the mean time apply it consistently as it is.

If someone reports a post and says he is offended, can you say he must not be ?

Ahhh, can we please remove any icons that show Hello Kitty (very offensive against the mute society of which I am big supporter as well unsuitable for children after recently being licenced in the production of b*** plugs) and obviously any Smurf imagery. Smurfs are especially offensive, as they are blatently sexist, racist and very anti semetic.

More than just the ability to be 'interpreted' there.

Edit: - this kind of debate can go round in circles.

Admin, and the rest of the team are well aware of your concerns.

The judgement call is mine,m not yours. It could offend me (it actually does). It does not offend you, however that is totally irrelevant as per rules of community as it could be (it does) interpreted by me (or anybody else) to be offensive.

The insistence by the moderation team NOT to moderate according to the rules of the community does reflect badly on them. Anyway, so much easier for them to accede and remove the post (as it COULD offend) as per definition below, however the doggedly resist.

umlungu

White person. Used in Southern Africa by Black people. Contemptuous and offensive.

I'm speaking Zulu under my breath so this stupid umlungu doesn't realise that I'm insulting him, while pretending to help him. By the time he finds out that I've ripped him off, I'll be long gone.

Why? The rules does not allow for value based judgement calls. The term could offend, they should act according to that as the word was reported as offensive.

Anyway, did you ask any of the native Zulu speakers around you as per the correct definition of the word umlungu, or are you just taking it in good faith that they refer to "white man" and not scum of the sea? Ask a native Zulu about the correct translation of the word (and remember they are a very polite people, so you will have to listen carefully to what / how things are said)

Sheeez Slowbee ! Don't you get it ? He IS offended. No debate needed. The only question left to answer is why don't you apply the rules as stated ? Why do you uphold your context and belief above his ?

Rather than offend you, I hope you will give me your opinion on my replacement. It was my golden retriever's first-ever visit to the beach this weekend. I took a pic of his paw-print in the wet sand. He is a pedigreed dog. Some people got offended by people who buy dogs from breeders, when there are so many rescues that could be adopted. Would that pic offend you?

Umm go back a few posts. You asked me how moderation gets done. That will answer your question.

Ok it is late. let me make it easier for you - it is not my call to make. It is the teams call to make.

And to be clear, me discussing the issue with agteros, has got nothing to do with my response as a mod. My view is not above his. The point is I am trying to figure out why he is offended by it.

Loads of other people are not?

Sheez, and other variants like sheesh is a euphemism for Jesus. There are a number of good and committed Christians on this forum that could well be offended by this post.

I have a good idea, you are offended, he is offended, they are offended, we are offended, heck everybody is offended.

Lets suspend everybody. Shut everything down. That's not a bad idea - we will get to ride more, and realise there is one hell of an amazing world out there, that is nothing like what it is portrayed in here.

Kinda like my bed.

Later guys. in the words of Mr Powers ..... *oh behave....*

If so, and anyone complains, I'll gladly offer to the moderators to remove such post, but of course, only if it's done to the above moderators post as well, since it was just retaliation to his same use of the words to me ...
