You will be surprised....trust me....try it once, you won't look back.

Replace russian with a sputnik if you don't have the stomache.

Oh forgot....my absolute best is those cinnamon doughnuts from woolies(say2-3) and a monster.

nooit ou. Russian and chips or sputnik and monster. I want to see it first

Dead serious, that is first prize....but the take-away's aren't always open when its race time

The woolies doughnuts option is a close second...monster is key though

I'm also guilty of tucking into muffins/doughnuts etc before race....

Shotgunning a beer just before isnt exactly what i had in mind...   ...

You also need to consider that during a race, its not to easy to eat solid foods, so essentially it ends up being sachets etc... so whats most important is pre-race meals.

So far the night before I find fish and rice works the best, but i'm still trying to find the perfect mix for breakfast.

Gatsby's are awesome. A cpt only phenomenon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gatsby_%28sandwich%29

Gatsbies usually consist of long bread rolls cut lengthwise and opened up to form a sort of cradle which is filled with various fillings. While the choice of filling in a Gatsby varies widely depending on customer preference and vendor, one standard item is usually hot chips i.e. French fries.

Different varieties of Gatsbys include masala steak, chicken, polony, Vienna sausage, calamari, fish, and chargrilled steak.
