Not that hectic . Looks insane but easy to climb once you got a nice rhythm .

Okay.. so my strategy for it will be to spin up it lol.

Thise other climbs before looks like they may be rather taxing. So if I don't push my bike spin up them too.

Okay I managed to climb what they call the 3 b!tches (at Giba)and then continue to out the park to the hut fairly comfortable, it's not 9km though but the 3b!tches part is relatively steep.

I am just trying to compare all the climbing with something I have actually ridden.

Oh wait maybe someone can tell me if the monster bit it steeper than the climb at the berg and bush just after you cross the dam. Or if it compares to the climb they took us at B and B instead of going up Spionkop?

I find the mini monster climb more difficult than the actual monster. Don't stress about taking it too easy early on..............I started too easy said no one ever at the Monster.

I don't mind the climbs so much, its more the downhills after the climbs... littered with with loose rocks referred to by some as "baby heads".

Okay those I am okay-ish with.. thats what we have around here.. loose rocky terrain. And I have 120mm upfront and a bike that sommer just gives you peace of mind ;)

I don't mind the climbing. . I wouldn't say I am good at it.. but they don't freak me out like they used to.. I just like to know what is coming.

ROUTE CHANGES FOR THE MAGALIES MONSTER 2014

At this stage there are three essential route changes required.

Route Change 1

The section from the turn off at the “horse shoe” leading to the tar road crossing at Protea Ridge and then continues through the Mabela Rantjies farm on the way to Ilhanti is no longer accessible.

Route Change 2

From a turn off halfway along the “horse shoe” the route will make a loop through a picturesque fruit farm (Overvaal Protea Products) and then rejoin the “horse shoe” road further on.

Route Change 3

After proceeding along the “horse shoe” road the riders will be crossing the D344 tar road at the Rietfonteirn School and proceed along a gravel road past the Sugar Bush estate and then ascend up on an old Vortrecker wagon trail until joining the existing Monster Route leading toward Ilhanti water point.

General

Please note that with the 3 route changes the distance has increased from77 to 82 kms.

How bout Avianto?

I think Hakahana is a better bet given the tech requirements of the monster. I haven't ridden Avianto.

Hakana is a bit far for me. Avianto has some pretty tech bits. Heia could also be cool.
