Anyone have advice for an all rounder bike light? Does anyone have experience with the Extreme 2000 Lumen

i have the older version of this light and I am very happy with it.

 

fully charged battery lasts about a week (5 x 1h30 rides) on dim

 

just follow the instructions regarding battery use and it should last you quite a while.

For road use, I like the Lezyne lights - bright and you can pop out the rechargeable battery and stick a new one in.

 

For MTB use I've recently got an Extreme 1400:

Seems good so far. The special they had on over Xmas would have put it in your budget, but I see it's back to full price again now

I have had an extreme light for over a year. lasts a long time and when you break stuff the back up is really quick, was not without a light for any rides when I snapped the mount.

 

Really good service from the guys. Looking to get another 2 for my folks, the days are already getting shorter!

I use a 1000 lumens light and the light is way more than I need.

For MTB, beam pattern is everything. Ideally look for something with a good sideways spread but not too much vertical. 1000 lumens is plenty, but it's got to fall on the right bit of trail otherwise it leaves you blind around corners.
