[Event] Bay City Cycle Tour

Hi Guys and Girls

Just a quick note from the organisers to say thanks for the positive feedback. We are all so glad that the months of planning that went into this event paid off, and apart from one or two small problems on the day, which were quickly rectified, everything went off well!

Thank you to YOU the cyclists for coming and cycling in our event. Without you, the event wouldn't happen! Also, having spoken with Traffic Services, it appears that everyone was well behaved, and to the best of my knowledge, no complaints received regarding people using entire road ways etc..

I hope you received a full cup of cold Coke at the finish area!

Thanks again for helping to make this event the success it appears to have been!

I crashed at the turn into Westlake Avenue from Boyes drive and lost my car key (Merc). I went back afterwards to look for it but no luck. Any chance that someone else who crashed there as well, found it and handed it in?

I have sent an email to PPA but no response.

First time i did this race, and I will def be back next year! Such a great race, and really fun racing around those routes.

Just as a side note: I realised halfway up OKW that i forgot to zip up my back pocket, and that my car key had fallen out. Was a bit bummed by this, but what can you do. After finishing the race the family walked the first couple km's up and down the start of the route to search for the key, but to no avail. As a last resort my no was handed to the race organiser, who said he will give me a call should someone hand it in. Needless to say it made my day when he phoned me a couple minutes later and said someone came and handed in the key. Someone actually stopped while riding/racing, and picked the key up to go and hand it in to the organiser!

To you, Sir/Madam, I am really grateful. If you read this please let me know so that I can thank you personally (it was a single Mercedes key - nothing attached to it). You saved me many troubles, frustrations and quite a bit of cash!

Haha, wow, what a coincidence this is. Sorry to hear about that - I know it's not a nice feeling. Hope someone hands yours in as well

HI HDW

Please check whether this is your key as I also lost a Mercedes key on the day (single key with nothing attached to it).

I double checked immediately when I got it - opens my door and starts my car. So it has to be my key

Yes, an amazing coincidence. You are so fortunate. I hope someone has found mine and handed it in. My wife had to drive all the way from Hout Bay to bring me spare.

Really hope you get it back. A real sinking feeling when you realise its gone. My family had to drive all the way from the Northern Suburbs, and the spare key only works "manually", so i'm so thankful for getting it back

the event was better managed than the rollercoaster. i did'nt do the roller coaster but i cycled the route on the day of the race and the performance of traffic police and marshalls was not what we have come to expect from PPA, but the bayside was a lot better. apart from the wind it was a nice race.

just a quick question, will the wind be taken into account when considering the difficulty level?

Clearly not. The Roller Coaster which had an identical route has a beta of 1.16 and Bay City got 0.95. I've given up with trying to understand how it works!
