take your shoes off, then hook your toes over the inside of the rim, helps when you pulling the last section of the tubbie on. start at the valve and make sure its straight before pulling the rest on.

No, because of the higher pressure MTB sealant does not work.

I carry a can of tyreweld and find that it gets me home.

That's the thing with asking advice on the 'net ..... some say do, some say don't

My experience says put some in, can't do any harm but will go get tyreweld anyway. Thanks for the tip!

Also, please make sure that when you put the new tubbie on, you inflate it properly. The pressure will help to keep it on.

I have rolled a tyre off the rim going around a corner. Lots of guys laughed, but I found it less than funny at the time

Of course - your skill at mounting clinchers is on a par with that...... tic tic tic tic..... :)

So I've decided like the 'carry a raincoat and it won't rain' strategy to take a belt and braces approach on top of that ...

1) have put some sealant in

2) carrying an 'inflate and repair' canister

3) have a 'pre used/glued' tubbie I have vacuum packed ......

4) maximum pressure

5) carry a bomb and pump

Buy your self cafe latex sealant when you get a puncture use it add a bit of air and spin the wheel. This method has saved me twice during a road race. Plan B if that doesn't work replace tubby.

After all that stressing no problems on race day at all (including a second lap [emoji41] ) - of course I may have negated any potential benefits of the deep sections by carrying all that extra weight [emoji851]
