I also don't get the extra 400 metres, but let me lay it out for you why people won't achieve their dream this year.

Starting the race and hitting Pooks Hill right at the beginning will split the groups already, those who went hard here will then have to content with Summit road which is a rolling road and can take the best out of your legs if you are already at the limit, my guess is that most will be on their limit at this point.

From there you get the R 55 and the old Heartbreak hill will be a mere sprint so early in to the race, then the drop to Kyalami and from here there will be many lonely souls as the riders will be riding an intense pace all the way to the onramp for the N1, this road from the Jukskei to the onramp is at a constant gradient.

By the time the riders hit the N1 they will be so pooped and will start looking at forming little groups all over the place.

From here on it will be a lonely ride for many, then the hills in Steyn City and if they include that final climb up to Riversands from the fly-over, let's just say that many people will be walking towards the finish.

The theory of flying fast downhill and getting up half the hill with momentum ,good luck with that.

Just remember , everyone will be doing the same and after that it's up to the legs, lose the bunch and lose time.

Good luck folks, those who think it's gonna be a walk in the park, I will apologise on the day if this is the case.

i differ...  It will be harder, but the times won't change by much, here's why I say so:

Agreed, the first hour will be much harder with lots of over-eager folk trying to set the pace and no doubt the kyalami to ponte section will take a lot of the wind out of your sails.  The thing is that after just over an hours worth of riding you will be cruizing down Jan Smuts at 45km/hr while your HR drops to 120 bpm and you can really recover really well for the last 45 minutes that will no doubt be very tough aswell.

So i guess it all boils down to training.  If you can do 2 X 1 hour sessions at high power / heart rate in the same ride AND end your 3 hour training ride with a few steep hills I can't see that the bunch will lose you!

Good stuff, you have it in the bag

Simplest way to find out if you are ready for this course or not is to replicate the race on a Saturday training session:

1. Go as hard as you possibly can for 70km with about 1000m of climbing. Best to have someone faster than you push you all the way. Leave nothing in the tank.

2. Then straight in to 5 x repeats of a 2km hill averaging about 5% gradient. This must be done at 100% full sprint, leave nothing in the tank during each repeat.

If you're still standing afterwards, then you're good to go :)

And if you puke 3 times?

Who won the Ride4sight in 2.07.00 but when you query the website it was won 2.35. Something. Finished 7 minutes behind the winner Carnival and gave me an index of 200. So they used races from last year and 2 years ago.

So they put me in E. One of my friends that I am 15min faster start in D.

So I will just pass a group or 2 and ask the seeding office a R150 penalty for doing their worked incorrectly.

It gives 200 for everyone in 103Km and 121Km distances.

I took this up with PPA and they said I should contact ChampionChip. The winner's time is indeed incorrect, but they (PPA) calculate the seeding.

Something is fishy and I don't understand who is responsible for what  .

I wasn't querying my index, I was querying why the winner's time of the 125Km shows more than 5 hours.

Considering you mentioned the winner's time of 2:07 for R4S, this would indicate it's not the timing company but PPA's calculation.

I think I did that at the Amashova, except I gave everything for the first 53Km only, then:

Inchanga 1 me 0

Botha's Hill 1 me 0

Hillcrest (Kassier Road) 1 me 0

M13 first bump 1 me 0

M13 second bump 1 me 0

M13 Sherwood 1 me 0

Still standing, barely, but I think I'm good to go

I send them an email with proof about a week and a half ago with proof but no response.

The reason why I am crying like a baby is that next year will be my 1st argus and aiming for a sub 3 but will be happy with a 3.15. The way they worked it out is that they will seed me in h or g and there goes my dream. Last year I was seeded in D but couldn't attend the race.

I can't justify spending R7k for a race just and not ride for because somebody made a mistake and refuse to fix it.

I've got a 3:13 at the Argus from group L, and I still stopped close to the water point after Smitswinkel for a nature break.

Don't give up just yet on your dream. Focused training and riding in the front of the bunch gives you that opportunity.

Apply the same at the 94.7 and you can get a good time from as far back as J, K or L.

Why does your dream die next year - are only planning on doing 1 Argus ever?

If not, just check the Racetec website for more of their timed events next year (come ride the Tour of Durban :)) and you'll get your seeding up quick sticks.

Looks like there's a 1.6 km climb in the Cradle going up the road past Kloofzicht Lodge with a 4% gradient. That's very similar to those last 5 climbs of 94.7.

So, a 70 km route planned in the area that ends at the base of that hill, with 5 x full-gas repeats of the climb.

Do this for the next 4 Saturdays and you're good to go.

I know how you feel. I felt the same last year, and got a little stressed about it.

When I sent my reseeding this year, I got reply with an acknowledgement of receipt within 10m. I've included the body of the reply below. Did you get this? If not I would resend or phone them.

Hi,

Thanks for the mail.

Received.

You will receive Seeding confirmation by the 17 October 2014.

I then got the result of the reseed today by phone.

Also, I did 3 races in the beginning of this year, which all had better indexes than my 94.7 for Argus seeding. A bad 94.7 result does not mean a bad Argus seeding. I do understand your frustration though....

I'm good to go... was just sharing a bit of humour.

Amashova was done on a tandem, trying to help a friend break 3 hours. Turned into a very HARD training ride.
