must say the one thing those other inverted forks didn't have was tapered steerers, perhaps that's helping with the rigidity...............that and some voodoo in the carbon layup of course......

while we're at it, remember going to watch the national sat Jonkershoek circa 1992 and saw a guy with these Tange forks......

Inverted forks have been around for ages - Paul Turner, who started RockShox went on to start Maverick, and their claim to fame was the inverted fork, as well as the funky rear suspension system.

I rode an inverted fork for 5 years, first on my Maverick, and then on my Niner Air 9 (with a 29er conversion).

Since it's Epic - here is a pic of me and Svalbaard (all Maverick bikes come with a custom name), and my SC32 fork), from 2008.

I would definitely get another upside down fork ;)

Interestingly also an inverted shock.

Lots ofadvances since then. Tapered steerers, thru axles becoming the norm, carbon tech, geometry and bike setups that are kinder on suspension, internals on suspension and overall design...all of these add up to make things possible that before seemed impossible.

We've been having it!

It was possible 10 years ago to engineer and build an inverted MTB fork. The challenge was the oversize wheel hub axles were not the industry standard. The moment a proprietry hub was needed people ran for the hills.

Look at how much prejudice was leveled against Lefty from launch in 2000 through to around 2011 when proprietary suddenly became cool.

Now that thru axles are common an inverted forks need for some proprietary parts is not an issue
