Ja, also in. Agreed, heckuva expensive, but want to do it once. Next year, Ultra... I think.  :whistling:

Also entered for the Elgin Valley XL at Oak Valley. Sounds like good fun. Just a month earlier, unfortunately clashing with Argus MTB, but... just wanted to do that rather.

Did the Red Bull Lionheart yesterday. Hands down the most difficult < 5km race I've done. 350m of climbing over 2.3 km, then back again!

Great event and very well organised. And the goody-bag merch (Salomon tech-top and running visor) was awesome too!   And a bonus: no entry fees!

I'm really liking this Red-Bull / Salomon trail running initiative (they organised the Table Mountain FKT as well)

During the time that I've been injured (cracked ribs etc) I've been walking. Only really started last week, once I came off the ridiculous levels of painkillers I was on, but it's going well. Walking fast enough to get my HR above 160BPM in most cases, so at least I'm working at it still. Tested the run on the walk home last night (went out for dinner and decided to walk the 5k home) and it's still not lekker. Impact still hurts like a mofo.

Can't wait to get back into it, but I fear I'm going to have to start from the beginning again.

Take it easy, it'll come back to you. But no rushing. Just get all those joints and joining tissue up to speed again.

Had the most fun run yesterday - decided to go and see what Rhebokskloof trails runs like. Wow, it was great - actually preferred running it to riding it! Very good workout - esp in Paarl heat yesterday... very little dry on my clothing! Really fun trails - a good pedaly MTB (mostly!) route makes for a great trailrun workout.

Before you ask - yes it is allowed, even the signage says so. And the couple of riders I met along the route were all friendly and had chats to most of them in passing. Even when tired, I can get out of the way quickly!

Can't believe they don't have a nice trail run event there, they've got everything going and host a couple of MTB events every year.

Had a nice run (billed as a trail run, but really just around the vineyards) last night up at Neetlingshof for the final of night run series.

Great views from up the top!

Anyone here who could offer some first hand feedback on Salomon's longname 5 or 12l packs?

I fitted one I got embraced by the 5l one today in-store, but I know part of me wants to get it just because of the "S"-brand-disease (like a certain popular MTB brand).

The Camelbak Ultra's are also on the table - and the NathanSports Vapor range as well - if I could find them. Not so much the UltraSpires (which is on discount at NativeSports BTW).

Hi Guys.

New to this thread..

I live in the West Rand of Jozzi and looking for some trail running partners to do some training with. Not too fast, not too slow.... Building for Comrades and UTCT next year, we have some amazing trails and routes out this side but Im not too keen to try too many longer runs on my pat as most of the trails are just trails in and around the area and not in bike parks or reserves etc.

thanks and enjoy the trails....

What do you guys rate and use for waterPROOF jackets? Yeah, funny time of the year to ask about it, but some races during the year has this as compulsary kit.

A friend advised the Salomon Bonatti - the day AFTER we were in Canal Walk and close to the Salomon store. So could not look at it yet. Any other options? Saw a Saucony one and... I think it was a North Face one. Esp the Saucony one seemed very stiff.

Spent my entire December holiday injured and sick. Over trained (or as they say, there is no such thing as over-training, only Under Resting), and sick. Had a pain on the lower outside of right leg, put pressure on the leg and it the leg would just "give", almost collapse from the numb pain. Had to rest for about 2-3 weeks to get that to go away, and just as it was almost gone, have a cold why don't you, another week off.

Training for the Addo 100 miler took a serious knock. Now to salvage what I can and hopefully stay healthy till 26 February.

can anyone help?

a friend is looking for a group to run with, he stays in the Honeydew/Northgate/Jackal Creek area.

He's new to trail having mostly done road.

He's done 2 comrades so should be ok with most fitness levels.
