Problem here is that you aren't just replacing/repairing a clean area. The braking mounts are right there, so any welding will be a risk.

 

Would recommend any repair be temporary until you can sort out with Felt or find a replacement.

It can be welded, to look nice. It cannot be welded not to break again - it will simply break again at the weld. The heat treatment used to make the aluminium strong is different from the standard stress relief that most engineering works do on mild steel.

 

Imo the best option would be to rivet it together using a sheet of strong alu to both sides, something like 2024 or 6082T6, perhaps bend a little lip on the sheet, and chamfer the corners. There should be a sheet metal worker at most places that do maintenance on ligt aircraft.
