What a awesome race this was and I will def do it again next year.

A little report I wrote of my experience of the race with my buddy Q(Crankmeister).

Q and myself entered the Darling Brew 62km Bonecrusher race. On route to the race Saturday morning it was raining most of the way to Darling. Also lots of mist around but the weather cleared for the start of the race. I dropped back to start with Q in E group as he entered late and we were dressed warmly with rain jackets on. After 10km's it started to drizzle and the overnight rain made it muddy and patches of standing water. The race started nice and easy and we could warm up nicely but then we hit the single track and the field bunched up with some not so gifted riders and guys falling in front of us. On the climbs the same happened again and this became quite frustrating as they were holding us up.

On the downhill we came across a frustrated rider looking for a pump as no one wanted to stop and help him so we decided to stop and help the guy and we lost around 10 mins. 3km's down the road and we merged routes with the 42km race and that was even more frustrating but we took our chances passing the guys on the single track when it was safe to do so but during this time my rear tyre started deflating. We pulled over quickly and pumped it up with my hand pump but around 5kms later at the WP we tried again but then Q just bombed the tyre for me and it sealed properly and I could finish the race with no further issues.

Around 36km's in we hit a nice steady and long climb which really tested the legs and many guys were walking the climb. I gapped Q on this climb as I felt pretty strong but then the rain started coming down lightly and it quickly got heavier. I decided to pull over and put my rain jacket on again and wait for Q to do the same and continue the race together from there.

With hindsight now - We continued but somehow missed our turn off for the 62km route and we went straight on with 42km route unknowingly and continued with the race holding back energy for the last bonecrusher hill. Again I gapped Q a bit as he was caught up in traffic and it was raining quite heavy still. I waited for him along the railway tracks with around 50kms on the clock and we were amazed that we could see the finish line in the distance. We crossed the finish line with 53km's on the clock and still feeling quite fresh.

We now know what happened after I studied my buddies map route compared to mine. All in all though a very enjoyable race and a must do for 2016

Hey Mads

You are in luck as I picked up your Projects just before where the 62km and 42km guys merged whilst busy helping another rider who didnt have a pump and was out of bombs.

Turns out I am now helping 2 guys with 1 good dead

PM me to let me know when you would like to collect them.
