Still need to get a road bike for the trainer... baby steps :-)

IMO, you can use a MTB on the Flow trainer, provide that you've got the trainer-specific rubber tyres. (Tacx & Continental do have those specific tyres)

Ya, could have led us through some of those amazing routes in Switzerland.

Actually, Swiss, you must have loads of fantastic rides on your Garmin connect page. Any chance you could send me a couple of gpx files?

Sadly i dont ride much with my garmin, being a polar user most of my life.

But as I'm in the process of getting a cycleops power beam I will try and get some challenging routes onto my garmin before the winter sets in that i can use during winter months.

Only route i do have is the zurich iron man route (90km) but its pretty boring except for a few hills in the middle and end.

Shweet, congrats on the cycleops, I'm sure your'e excited. So I guess you'll be joining the cycleops nerds group every week, but you must klap them!

Hehe...hopefully they will allow me to join them, seems like the group rides are becoming popular

It might seem so Harryn, but that first 15 I was gritting my teeth staying with you. Was giving it all & must be the hardest I trained indoors ever. Pretty cool to ride roads that I last rode on 20 years ago. (They seems steeper now  )

I extracted some old mid week 25-35km rides from my Endomondo account. I did not ride them on the Tacx yet, but can send them on if you want them.

Did anyone get the new 94,7 route?

I tried - rode the whole "old" section, but when I got to the new Steyn City part they wouldn't let me in to complete it. Bit of a waste of time and petrol. I then emailed the organisers and asked if they would send me the GPS file.....*crickets*

Harryn, thanks for last night.

That route was captured pre-Strava on an old Nokia E52, and I can see that the quality:

Zig-zag under trees etc.

Sudden changes in elevation that is more drastic than reality. (Clifton where I know the ride quite well was the same 2 weeks ago)

I was a bit naïve to think that real life stoppages at traffic lights would be detected.

Had a bit of time on the bike and wondering if I could write something that smooth the experience, but as usual - there is already products for that. (See urls below)

I will play a bit with it before I send you files. (They don't mention the real life stoppages)

Thanks Straatvark. I enjoyed the route, and tho it was a bit of a bumpy ride, It was still lekker. Bit hard to get into a rhythm with the elevation changing up and down like that, but I have experienced this with Garmin generated files as well, so dunno if its fair to blame the Nokia.

As far as smoothing goes, I will check out the links. But, look at what the Cycleops guys said a day or 2 ago on their thread about "smoothing" as well.

Anyway, next week we are riding Fox hill, to be set up by Essack. You will murder us, you are strong on the climbs!

Anyone who can bunk out of work early tomorrow and is keen to ride in the afternoon, let me know.

Ordered my Tacx trainer yesterday. Hoping to join you guys within the next week or two.

Fantastic, congrats. Pm me your cell number, and I will add you to our whatsapp group.

@Essack i rode Fox hill today, and saved the route. 1st 20km of Amashova. Not easy but lekker training for the race. Looking forward to wednesday.

Also, I am keen to ride on Tuesdays and Thursdays now. Does this suggested change meet with majority desires?
