The topic kinda sums it up.

All the forks in my price range are en route to SA with an expected delivery date of moreweeksthanicanhandlewaiting.

There, I said it - does it make me feel better? No.

Back to work everyone...

My price range is at a stretch R2k.

I have seen some awesome rigid forks all over the show with an euqally hefty price tag.

Was looking at the On-one forks, but our exchange rate makes it out of my price range as well.

My only options in order of preference:

1) Rapide Pitchfork (almost ready at the factory, and then hope the can fly/float here with little delay)

2) Surly Karate monkey (another couple of weeks for stock to arrive.)

Ordered a Surly Krampus 29" for $90 two days ago. (About R 1500.00 including freight and before import duty). Got a call late tonight from UPS for delivery.

Will let you know.

Expect final cost to be about 2k.

Ordered via Jenson USA.

Can you remember what the shipping costs were (in dollar)?

Just my 2cents, If you want to ride a rigid be prepared to descend at a snails pace vs your suspension fork where you just bombed downhill, very rocky descends will have to be walked.

From Now on you will have to choose carefully & study the race routes more intensely than before.

Thank you Milky,

I am very excited to relearn the skill of riding a rigid fork (last time was on my BMX in school)

It will be a progression for me, I am not under the impression that i will carry the same speed as with suspension, but i am keen on improving with every ride.

the wait continues...

Hmmm... Don't know about that. I see Thug riding his rigid down tech stuff nearly as fast as his 160mm rig.

My riding buddy only rides rigid bikes and I struggle to keep up with him on most descents. But maybe I'm just slow :whistling:

BS...rigid might be less comfortable, but slower....aikona pel. We can put the theory to the test at lets say oom piets at fun gaalens or maybe hakanana's rinkhals descent....

Keen?

RocknRolla....here are my 2c brother

1.First prize is Niner fork...owned one, missing it. They even make a through axle one. They not cheap, but really the RR of rigids imo

2.Pitchfork from Kiwi....great value, local backup and a pleasure dealing with the man...They are also not ugly and black goes with almost any colour scheme

3.Whisky from Crusher....Currently have one of these....They are super retro looking, very very well nicely finished and the UD carbon layup pops in the sun.

4.Order a fong kong...cheap cheerfull but nothing more to it

There you go, all the options from champagne to beer budget
