Yeah, agreed, sold a set of brakes the other day and I got multiple PM's before the first comment on the ad. It went to the guy quickest on the draw.

Been buying and selling for ages and Pm's come in faster than thread replies.

Then go to sms or email

Very true, but then leave a notice of your add and/or reply to PMs, emails telling people

Does happen unfortunately. Try to check out the ratings of the seller before investing too much energy and effort in the sale.

That's why its very important to rate a seller , Most Hubbers don't rate the seller , Rating the Seller will give the next Buyer more confidence , If the seller do have a negative ratings He will think twice before He enquire . I sold a lot off Items on the Hub , fortunately I never had any bad comments and come backs from unhappy Buyers , but the Key to this is to communicate properly to the Buyer , tell Him at least His in the queue or it Sold , don't put the Buyer in the dark , I also agree that the first Buyer that comes up with the cash takes the goods , But give reasons to the Guy that lost the sale , tell Him straight He was to late and to respond faster next time .

Yes, and if the seller takes two weeks to reply to your four replies and calls you a d...s then what.

This Hub is not what it should be. Too many "iffy" sellers persist.

If you did not buy because of *** service are you supposed to rate a seller although you never purchased anything because it looked dodge?

Same experience earlier this week. Wanted to buy a bike. Was first to comment on the ad, messaged the seller and even called him and had a lengthy chat indicating that I would buy the bike. He said he is ok with it but that he was in the bank at that moment and would call me back later. All good.

Get a PM from him later saying that someone in his area was also interested and would be coming to look at the bike. I asked how does that work if we pretty much had a verbal agreement and I called him first? No, boxing and sending a bike is a lot of trouble and that "I'm sure you understand". Two years ago a friend and fellow hubber died (drowned). I knew his wife from school and helped her to sell his bike and other bits. I boxed it up and mailed it to someone on the other side of the country. So no, seller, I do not understand.

Later in the day he removed the ad (obviously the local guy took it), and hasn't said a word since.

Swak.

I know it's a blind feeling but consider the seller who just wants to flog his bike.

You taking it means, lots of fiddling/packing, worrying if the courier will stuff it up and finally if you will be happy with what you have never seen firsthand VS local buyer comes around, looks at it, rides around the block, pays cash puts it in his car and done deal.

When attempting to purchase goods from Hubbers, it seems that to state you are taking goods via leaving a post, doesn't work!! To phone them directly is a better way. However even stating that is also not a guarantee. As if they realize they can get a higher price because of the amount of calls, they also just remove the ad. Has happened three times in succession now!!
