Event Name: STBB 2Keep-a-Breast MTB Challenge & Family Fun Day
When: 18 October 2014
Where: Overgaauw Wine Estate, Stellenbosch, Western Cape
Category: MTB

The STBB 2Keep-a-Breast MTB challenge and family day, organised by national law firm STBB Smith Tabata Buchanan Boyes, has become known as one of the "must-do" MTB events on the calendar. All proceeds are donated to CANSA for breast cancer research. Our generous sponsors are providing an impressive selection of unbelievable prizes again this year, both to distance winners, as well as lucky draw winners. This is so much more than just a charity mountain biking event - we feature Bedouin chill out tents where riders can rest their weary legs and meet up with friends, an awesome food market with a wide range of delicious meals, artisan beers, wine tasting, and activities to keep the children entertained. Bring your friends and family for a fun day in a stunning setting!

Ticket special : buy 5 tickets and get your cheapest entry for FREE!

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

We are capping the entries to this event at 1,500 for two reasons:

1. The routes created by Bottelary Hills MTB on the Bottelary Hills Conservancy can only accommodate 1,500 riders in order to preserve and safeguard the terroir and flora in the conservancy area.

2. With the new awesome single track created on these trials, too many participants would cause bottlenecks which would impact on your enjoyment of the event.

We hate to turn people away, but this is the responsible thing to do, you'll agree. So if you still have not entered, please do so today... the tickets are positively flying off the shelf now and there will be no tickets on sale at the event. See More

Damn that was tough. I dunno how i managed to finish this race. I was wrecked afterwards. Waterpoints amazing, organising and everything A plus. Well done guys.

Small negative, they stole bikes off cars again, just like last year. Stole one 2 cars away from me, Range rover with GP plates, heard of others aswell. Only thing is to maybe up the security.

Afterwards ? From the main car park ?

Superb organisation - from the detailed updates pre-race, through the sunscreen at the start, potatoes at the waterpoints, to the well-run bike wash and great stalls at the end. Route was well-marked and well-marshalled. Took into account all comments made post last year's race.

What to do about the thefts?! Organisers did provide a safe storage space post race, so tried to address the issue. Crime is becoming such a big put-off at these events - last week at Slanghoek, a teenaged farm kid tried to steal my saddle bag off my bike - WHILE I was riding!

This route is such a nice place to ride, I'm actually considering a membership for next year.

Felt a bit tired coming into this race and if that wasn't enough, I battled with asthma from the start throughout + had a twig pierce my brandnew rear tyre in the first quarter of the race, burned some matches chasing the group I was in when I got the puncture, managed to catch them all and a few more to finish in 16th/216 for the 60km.

Kudos to Mr Squires to finish in 14th place racing a single speed, YOUR ARE A MAD MAN LOL!

Loved all the new singletrack and will definitely be back next year!

My first 60km...geez was tough. Lots of climbing and very hot. No easy kms, you had to work for everything. Thoroughly enjoyed it though and very well organised.

Some great single track, will definitely go back to Bottelary Hills for some play time. :)

On a side note.. Never follow the guys in front of you. They may just be taking you down a rabbit hole.  :whistling:

I was concerned at first when the guys at the Rawson water point reported that a few front runners made an appearance from the wrong side, as I was sure that I have marked that section well enough.  Also rode the whole route again on Friday to ensure all markers were in place - so they indeed took you down a rabbit hole.

But kudos to you for doing the 60 km on a single speed - I struggle to do it using my granny gear - I will have to toughen up the route next year!

I missed it this year! Snooze you lose on entries is my best excuse!! :whistling:

Eish, the irony of doing charity events, you sweat blood and get driven into rabbit holes just so that your bike can get stolen while you re-hydrate!!! Flippen thieves!! :cursing:

I got a puncture from what I thought originally, a twig piercing my rear tyre at about 15km into the long route, low and behold, this is what I get inside my tyre today when I changed the sealant!!!!
