Hmmm, I saw that under-the-radar post you made somewhere else, something about "looking for a Pike..." :whistling:

it's so under-the-radar that little acqui-mission, it looks like its about to crash into mole hill.. *sigh*

If I could I would buy one of these in a heartbeat. Best bike I've ever ridden.

Helderberg cycles have the comp standing there, but at R47000 it's a bit steep for what u getting. $3500 in the states is a lot more acceptable.

Not really, dude. At 10.5 to the dollar, with VAT alone (no duties) you're looking at a straight R 42,409 before shipping. So it's not that much of a difference at all, if you look at the math.

It is growing on me at a rate of knots. It's a bit like the Audi S models. Very understated, but with all the fire power you could ever need. I likey.

Still no joy?

rapidly running out of local options. as in down to last one. So unless someone local decides to sell his/her fork, i'm totally forked.

Cap, if you're not dead set on the Pike, I'm selling my Fox Float 36 RLC...(for cheap cheap... ;) ). Maybe an option.

+1 and how does it compare to 2014 Float36RC2

"So now I have a 2014 Float36RC2 on my Uprising for direct comparison. And I gotta say it's a tough call. I can feel the extra weight of the heavier fork but I also feel the extra burliness. It's not as plush in the small stuff as the Pike but it's more stable on the bigger hits. The Pike kinda blows through its travel when you land harsher jumps and drops while the 36 just feels like it's there for you. It's a tough call because the majority of my riding is peddly trail stuff, but I hate feeling undergunned when I'm biking."

It's a 2012 model Float. Hairy, it's currently standing at Recycles in Bellville if you wanna have a squiz. I bought it, rode it for about 3 months and went back to a Revelation. Just didn't fit the type of riding (mostly trails) I do. But as an AM/freeride fork, I don't think you can fault it.

I agree completely with that paragraph. I definitely felt the extra weight vs my Revelation, but then there's also a lot less flex with the Float. Going through e.g. rock gardens at speed you definitely have a lot more confidence with the 36. It's really in the gnarly stuff where you start appreciating a bit of extra weigth/stiffness.

What price is it going for?
