British rider Peter Kennaugh has pulled out of the Giro d’Italia three days before the race is due to get under way because of an illness, his Sky team said on Tuesday.

Kennaugh, who won his first title in March but was also forced out of Liège–Bastogne–Liège because of an illness, will be replaced by Australian sprinter Chris Sutton.

Is anybody playing fantasy league for the Giro?

Perhaps set up a private TheHubSA league and send us the link. I'll join in and some sure others will too.

Lots of fun, and gives a new dimension to who you want to be supporting for each stage :).

Its a bit silly having the start of the giro in Ireland....everyone knows the real giro starts when it gets to Italy.

For us spectators its nice to see another country on the TV but It must be a major ball ache for the teams and riders, hope like hell they have dry weather.

Is the tour of Ireland ( The Ràs ) ever going to start in Italy......exactly

I think it's about broadening the base of the Giro and increasing viewer numbers. The sport has to keep sponsors happy.

Isn't Dublin to Milan like a quick hop?

Yeah right I forgot the Irish don't have TV yet :P

Its a shortish flight, guessing about 2- 3 hrs or so...easy if you just got 1 suitcase and yourself and the missus..... BUT add in the checkin times, travel to and from airport on both sides AND if you got a whole team of riders, support crew, team cars, team truck(s), do they all go by plane or have to drive?

Who pays for the transport costs between Ireland and Italy?

But for me...I kind of like the giro to be in Italy, Le Tour in France, Vuelta in Spain, Tour of California in California, Argus in Cape Town, World champs in Benoni.....

gerrit?

I see that there are a few Fantasy League sites running, so we need to pick one.

I suggest the Giro Fantasy League on velogames.com:

I've created a mini league called TheHubSA and here are the details for you to join in:

League Name: TheHubSA

League Code: 08082025
