The rims aren't really tubeless,

Why they are fully sealed post-1290-1398090145,4599.jpgpost-1290-1398090190,5292.jpg

Plus the label say they are :-)

Ah ok makes sense now, so that is the valve hole not a spoke hole

Possible theory: rims were cleaned with concentrated industrial strength solvents that was not rinsed off properly. Collected at the valve opening and went to work there. There is nothing in Stans that would corrode aluminum like that. The ammonium content in Stans is about the same as the ammonium content of your urine, and not even Gerrie Nel can p!ss through aluminium. The stans merely did its job when holes started to appear and sealed them up.

Yes valve hole.

I used some gasket maker around the damaged area and refitted the valve, will see if I make it to work tomorrow.

Ok here goes my theory now you ain't going to like it but it's probably what happened, you saw you had to constantly fill the tyre up, so used the pump quite a bit, I think you might have cracked it by applying some leverage when trying to get the pump head off or on. Tough one bud. At least you have an excuse to buy new wheels

Yea not a huge train smash have a spare set of XT rims , I'm still convinced it was the Stan's but maybe that's just me. Like I said I'm not expert when It comes to bicycles I just ride them .

I got some green sludge from a work colleague , I'll see how that goes.

Maybe I got some fake backyard brewed Stan's , seems like nothing can be trusted when it comes to bicycles

Doubt it when I got them all the stickers even the little ones with Ia/GB printed on was still one the rims , if they where washes that would not be there.

Definitely not the Stans. I've used it on XTs and never had a problem. How's your second rim? If that's OK with the Stans then it's a different issue, look for other possible problems.. especially as it looks like just around the valve

I had the same problem on my mavic crosstrail rims, but it was my fault. I could not find any tubeless sealant so I used normal puncture free sealant for tubes.
