Hi There guys

I am from Paarl, I own a small cycling empowerment business.

I must say that I was inspired by someone on this forum and outside this forum.

Well my life actually revolves around cycling and i try to cycle everyday of my life.

I have a great love for bikes all shapes and sizes, cycling changed my life.

I realized cycling is too big and must be shared, more people must feel what we as cyclist feel.

A few months ago I donated a few of my old bikes, stock that i traded in or bikes I fixed with minimal efford and cash. I must say this was a real eye opener for me, the need was just as big as the appreciation shown.

I have never seen that kind of appreciation and gratitude.

I also realised that for some a bicycle would solve a few problems and for some a piece of bread or something to eat would be better.

Poeple have different needs and thats when I decided to buy some food and easter eggs and sweeties. This was a big sucess story and something i would do over and over again.

Well to cut a long story short.

We all feel like something good, but we never action these desires or dreams and I must say that it feels good to actually share and to change someones life.

Attached are a few pics of what we have done.

Thanx for the inspiration.

Nice one Neptune!

Riding bicycles is a little piece freedom, no matter the bike or how wealthy you are the feeling is the same

Well said, so true, I remember my first bike a bmx and it beat the feeling of my first motorbike at 16 and car

Thanx for the comments guys, I really feels great to hear that there are people/cyclist out there that shares the same passion.

My plan is to take this beyond donating bikes to people and kids that are in need.

I would like to look at the actual needs of communities, families, kids, scholars and orphans etc.

I discovered that sometimes the need is just something to eat, something to wear, something to play with.

A week ago I cycled from Paarl to Riebeeck west early morning and it was pitch dark. I had my light obviously, but I passed a small group of school kids walking in the yellowline and I could see they were terrified to walk there, cause its a busy road. They can walk next to the road but they cant see infront of them and they will be wet befor they get to school. I also passed a group of kids waiting for the schoolbus and they were also practically invisible.

So immediately I saw the need for some sort of reflective wear and I know that the department handed refective gear to the kids, but that was a while ago!

I plan to hand out some refective gear to some of them and I will also try to talk to the Provincial Administration official wrt proper signage at the bus stop.

This sounds like a mission and that its to far fetched, but I already made a Call to the PA and purchased 15 meteres of relective strip. Now all of a sudden it doesnt seem so difficult.

Thanx for reading.

My mini visible scholar project is coming along nicely. I have about 20 bibs and about 50 reflective waist bands for improved visibility. I am also ordered beanies to which I can attach a reflective strip that will keep their ears warm and make them visible.
