I actually dont know, the SAPS didnt tell me much when I went to identify my bike. There is a big warehouse at CT Central SAPS with bicycles and various other things.

Ha, never did I think anyone would try answer that, least of all you Liezel. At least I didn't say anything about those bar ends.. that would have been embarrassing! HA HA! Welcome to the hub?

No mention of the perp either?

Very happy for you

What happens if insurace already paid out .Just curious?

I've heard that they'll take possession of the bike, but, also, in some cases, the insurance company will sell it back to the claimant for a reduced cost.

As soon as an insurance company pays a claimant for a total loss, the insured item becomes their property to dispose of as they please.

They can sell it, auction it, donate it, offer it back to the claimant.....whatever they like.

My wife lost her wedding ring and the claim was paid out. We found it 6 months later in the boot of her car where it had fallen into the spare wheel. Called my broker and according to her the ring is now the property of the insurance company. They have people that they sell the lost&found and damaged property to.

My wife would really like to keep it as it is sentimental, even though her new ring is worth more(women??? ). Now the negotiating begins.

Outsurance never came back to me about my broken bike they paid out on and then took. I wanted to see if I could buy it off them for the parts as apparently they go on auction but they wouldn't give me any details.
