You are correct.

That bridge was removed. I think it was when the new owner dispute started....

The new owners main aim is to have all fun removed.... good thing most things went HAP's way

What are the fees now?

When I rode there late in December I got handed a pamflet at the main gate saying that a levy will be charged to all people entering the area from 1 January, in addition there would then be the fee (R40) at Heia (Hero Adventure payment) themselves to ride the trail.

This was my first ride there but I was told there was a  bridge or ramp or something like that that left you with a drop-off into that tricky descent before the river crossing. the trail now just leads into the tricky descent without the ramp.

I hope that sort of explains it?

The bridge was cool. It didn't look anything from the side when you went under it at the beginning of the ride but when you went over the top at the end of the ride it was a different story. Hold your line and don't panic with the brakes was the best bet :-)

Why the funkel don't I remember this bridge? I've ridden these trails stukkend! Flippit! A bridge on the red route?

You cross the river, swing right and ride the river bank, then swing left and climb up a mother of a first hill. Then you used to ride under the bridge. Funnily enough I didn't notice it either first time I did red, until I saw it at the end. May have been because I had tears in my eyes due to afformentioned climb though.

I made a little video of what is for me, the most fun part of the route there.

It's still a work in progress, and I hope you enjoy.

Keep in mind, I am an amateur videographer, and my name is not claudio. We make the best of what we have here in Joburg.

Was R40 pp payable at reception. Reception must stamp a little formpie they give you at the gate when you enter otherwise they apparently wont let you out.

Got that as well.

But at the main gate where you turn of the main road (new boom gates erected), they gave me the pamphlet saying from 1 Jan a tourist levy will be payable for entering a conservation area....

Anyone been paying this levy over and above the R40 for the MTB ride since 1 Jan?

I rode there last weekend which is definitely in January. No mention of a conservation fee when I went. Maybe they were still running holiday staff who didn't know?

I know it has been a while, but is there still a Hippo roaming about at Heia - used to be on the yellow trail?  Wouldn't want to meet him/her on the trails while cycling alone  :whistling:

Edit: Haven't been there in months therefore the question
