Collision on Vasbyt

Just wanted to let everybody know that I had a collision with an ascending rider on the section of Vasbyt below the road. The section which has been recently smoothed out. Took the small jump just before the blind right hand corner, and as I landed I saw the other rider. Managed to get on the brakes, but couldn't stop altogether.

Hit his handlebar with my forearm, and he ended up in the bush to the left of the trail.. No damage fortunately, but this could have been pretty serious, as I was actually going a bit slower than I normally go through there.

To the other rider, if you're on the Hub, my sincerest apologies, but I tried my best to avoid you. Unfortunately I went left and you went to your right, so we both ended up on the same side. You seemed OK, but hope there are no latent injuries. My forearm is a bit sore, but nothing serious.

To the powers that be, a divert for ascending riders is desperately needed for that blind corner, it's just too easy to carry loads of speed through that section.

Lol. dunno actually. But I have mailed him so I have all bases covered.

Looking at this the answer, a divert, is simple enough but boy there would be quite some labour involved in that. And how long before descending riders figure out they can save a tenth of a second on Strava by using the divert and we have the same situation again?

From road/old pallet jump downward - down only - that section is too smooth and fast now (love it!)

Can leave the upper section two way.

Just DO it! before we have an incedent.

Had near miss on that section last week - velly close.

there are trails that are now over grown on the northern side of Vasbyt, running close to the fence. these can be reopened (first need to find them again but that shouldn't be too hard) and used as the "UP".

We can accomodate runners on this section. SANParks don;t want new trails built but technically these are not new, just out of use...
