Anudder question for the cyclops folks

I was mapping a potential route on my Edge yesterday and while negotiating a few tight corners the question crossed my mind..... How does the online rides handle sharp corners, do you have to slow down or are they "smoothed" out by the program? I assume it's only the height profile that is used?

It can be very dependent as to how many satellites the Garmin/GPS head unit sees at the particular time, the accuracy can vary by up to 10 meters. So if you were doing tight switch backs there may be a possibility that the unit "sees" a straight line between two points "through" the corner.

In the software there is an option to smooth this out....

Hmmm interesting as I'm busy contemplating buying a tablet to use with my powerbeam.... Keep us informed if you find out why, how to fix the problem etc....

The developers are working on the online racing option on the android, the update should be released later this month or early October.

Recently purchased a Powerbeam Pro. Really a nice unit. I seem to have rubber buildup from the tyre on the trainer after every ride. Is this normal?

Depends on the make of tyre, It should be minimal mines hardly noticeable , but you do get a trainer specific tyre, checkers cheap

As Dips said...a hard compound (gatorskin type) tyre should be fine but a softer compound (racing) tyre may deposit a bit of rubber.

Can confirm the gatorskin thing....no marks on trainer or little rubber deposits on floor...

two clicks as per manual....sorted
