Cost of entry is a tad high else I would join :cursing:

Well I know of a guy who got ran over the other day who would gladly pay a "get back on the road" fee of R15,000 to have his broken hip and bike fixed instantly. My wife enjoys this much more and to be honest it saves a lot of time. You get on the bike 5min before every race so effectively you are busy 60 minutes. Normally it takes 40 minutes just to meet everyone and start riding outdoors. It is also as mentioned a lot safer and an controlled environment means no illness due to cold winter mornings. No punctures or maintenance costs and the best part is that you decide on what routes with what gradients you ride when you want to. Imagine the benefit of riding the 94.7 x 6 times for muscle memory before race day...... Not to mention all the statistical feedback this program gives you. So yes it does seem expensive until you add it all up.....

I still seem to be around 4 - 5km's off my actual speeds. Normally I can average 36km - 38km on the road if I ride hard for one hour. On the trainer I cant average faster than 29km per hour. Granted the routes over the past few days was harder than what I am used to. Maybe the big thing is the fact that I have a TT bike and the program does not make provision for aero TT position? Also being in TT position means my chest is not as open as a roadie and the program does not take my aero position into account..... Does this make any sense?

I dont think you must translate the data directly. I never reach the same speeds or power. Many reasons have been mentioned. I think you must rather see the lines as running parallel and rather use % change as indicator. As a rough guide - my speed is about 10% lower on the IDT as on a 100km ride.

It does...there are a few factors that could influence both sides of the equation...aero / drafting / weight / pedal stroke deadspot / heat / no downhills ie you have to pedal on the downs /

It is fair and equal though ito racing each other....to a degree....since weight isn't taken into consideration. The person with the best FTP will normally win an online race...but in the real world it might not be the same person since its Watts / kg that counts there.

stop finding excuses haha.

the software has a platform that allows for "equal" competition and does not matter if you have a R5000 bike or a R50000 bike they will all go the same speed provided you keep the same Power. an equal playing field i suppose

No, what I am trying to say is...we all suck online....there is no place to hide(read 6,6kg bikes / 80mm deepsections / big peleton)

Its you, your legs / lungs and the bike and if you have enough power, you will beat the oke on the 100 grand pina with your yellow quebeka hahahhaa.

PS maybe put on full TT gear for the next race and give us feeback....lol
