It is easy to handicap - we make guys add weight on their profile for the race.

I am still not convinced it does anything wrt speed....I might be wrong. Only way to know for sure is to test the theory...ride a course of 10km and make yourself 150kg and then straight afterwards make your weight 50kg. You should obviously strive to sustain the same avg power

ALL I KNOW, 12% "DOWNHILL" DOESNT FEEL THE SAME MY USUAL BUFFALO ASSISTED DOWNHILL I GET ON THE ROAD

Well if you look at Dipslick and my test runs for the course our times are virtually the same but his average power is 20W more.

Yip! I find I have to work downhill as well. Don't care much since it is a great workout. I find when I do 2 or 3 sessions a week on the trainer I am relatively stuff on the wknds.

How much truth is in the theory that 45min on a trainer = 1.5h on the road (or something like that)?

Good work there inspector....and yes it seems you are indeed right....Just googled weight + powerbeam speed and on their own site it mentions something about resistance being set based upon rider weight or something like that.

you guys are welcome to change your weight to my settings   12% AT BUFFALO IS NO JOKE

The next part of the puzzle will be TT pacing. Do you go harder uphill and rest a bit on the "downhill" or do you go more constant.

The logic says your return for say 50W above threshold will be better used uphill because of diminishing speed gains caused by the quadratic wind resistance going downhill but I'm not 100% sure.

Yea the thing with downhills are you will need a motor to drive your freewheel to go quicker. All IDT's just increase your speed for the same watts, which is another way around the problem.

I dont know so much about 45min = 1.5h, but it is indeed tougher...tougher in the sense that there is no respite.

Yes makes perfect sense....hahahah we are such geeks. Fun to understand the forces and dynamics at play though.

But that takes into account that IDT emulates a ride where there is no wind...I thought we riding in a vacuum.
