I know dips....bennie is on my payroll, will speak to him about "tweeking" dave and flippie's pee. Here is the kicker for me, I went to hard in the beginning and faded in the end...I have done this route before with a better time than last night...although it felt much faster last night. The stopwatch doesnt lie....

That was hard. After the race I was lying steaming in the fetus position for 10 minutes. If I may provide some constructive feedback.

1. We need a local server. It is obvious that due to the distances the lag is problamatic. It's as if my data is fine but the other guys data gets updated once every few minutes.

2. Due to the above I see only 3 opponents speed and watts. The rest is blank even though they are racing.

3. Could you add a chat function leading up to the race. Would be nice to say hi after entering the race while we wait for the gun.

This online racing is a game changer thx for your involvement.

i am not 100% sure if a local server is needed, it may just be a speed issue of the server is Canada, look at Skype they have a pretty decent server and i dont think there is one locally.....

did you try click on the icon at the top of your iPad? this will show you more details about the race and the riders?

chat function would be nice but think there are a few bigger issues that need sorting out.

How accurate is the power readings? I've avg 16watt more than Dave over 42 min and only edged him with 30s?

weight may be an issue, have a look at the power to weight numbers, i was using a CycleOps Indoor Cycle so accurate to within +/- 1,5% i am not sure what equipment you were running?

AGREED TACX YOU CAN CHAT, but i would rather want to know where rouxtjie is than chat to him, and he pulls a sneaky FINISH LINE RUSSIAN SNEAKY SNEAKY AGAIN :whistling: :whistling:

I am getting the UCI involved here! I suspect sabotage of my software by some of these virtual racers

Sorry man I am so busy checking pee and my bank account I can't get to software sabotage. ... B)

Speaking of, I sent you some "funds" for "anti-doping" control....if you know what I mean :whistling:

Well the data is not streamed realtime. In fact I ride and then like every 60 seconds it gets updated. The problem here is that the position of everyone on the road and the stats don't quite agree. Yesterday for example it showed myself and Rouxtjie and Dipslick very close together in the last km only for the final results to show minutes between us. I have a 6Mb ADSL line which is very fast. How I understand it is that the 10 riders all ride, then the realtime data needs to be sent to Canada. The server there needs to process this data and then send it back. Surely this does cause the delays? Also note that not all racers will have ADSL - so certain okes data will be sent faster than others. If you watch CNN and they report then there is a 10 second lag between the news room and the reporters. I also play online gaming and find it impossible to play on servers abroad (except some UK countries but this is due to that seacom line - there is no "direct fixed line" to Canada as far as I know hence the bigger lag). Surely a South African Server could fix this? I may be wrong of course but I think we need to look into this. Maybe some bike company can sponsor a local server for us? Where are the IT experts? Maybe they can give us some more insight?

What i also noticed garfield is that in the previous race(four of us) it was real time....the peoples metrics and positions where updated every second along with mine...But last night we were a few more guys....maybe the cap is the problem and not the line speed...like you said the server needs to do calc's before sending data back. Maybe it can't handle more than a certain amount before lag kicks in...like you said, it is nice that the whole thing doesnt crash though.
