Do you have a cost breakdown on this...how much does it cost to make lets say 1L of the homebrew?

I can't remember now, but the Slime was the most expensive part - a similar price to Stans. The Liquid Latex was R140 for a litre. The anti freeze was cheap. I guess it probably worked out to about half the price of Stans, but the thing is, it lasts much longer than Stans, because of the anti-freeze - Stans uses water. If you are interested, I will scratch around and see if I can't find a link the original forum - it seems quite a few people to it is the US, particularly in the hot desert regions.

I read about it on some forum - 1 litre Liquid Latex I bought from a rubber moulding shop, 1 Litre Anti-freeze from MIDAS, and the Slime is a brand name sealer which I got from Outdoor Warehouse. The latex does the sealing, the antifreeze thins it out - can use water, but anti-freeze doesn't evaporate and makes it last much longer. The Slime has little particles in it which helps the latex to clot. Some people use glitter (from toy shops) instead of the Slime.

I've used it for about a year now, and its works a dream. I found after about 6 months, a rubbery booger built up in the tyre, but I think Stans does the same.

Thanks for the information. I might give it a try.

I have also been looking for a suitable replacement for tire sealant. As with all things when products become popular the supplier starts diluting the mix to get more from a batch which in effect makes more money. Some times i think Stan's is getting to that point. Don't get me wrong. It works when it needs to but for some reason or other i seem to pic the "dut" bottle in the shop. And slowly but surely its been getting worse. I've opened the cap on some bottles where the clot is all ready in the bottle. I've had all my sealant squirt out 40km from home and i replaced sealant a week before and this all from only a thorn.... Luckily no customer complaints yet but i don't need any at this stage because of stuff that might be sub standard. Maybe its just me?

OKO is another one, well priced and can be decanted with water. Stuff works like a bomb!

I have been a big fan of OKO, one problem is that it is very thick and as such the sealant does not always flow to cover the hole quick enough, The consistency of STANS is amazing, it is always moving in the tyre.

Over and above, oko doesn't work that well on tubeless ready tyres when trying to get an initial seal going with new tyres. That is a big win for stans

The truth hurts bennie. Oko is nice if you are using a tyre that fits snug aka UST's. But tubeless ready tyres need the sealant to flow freely almost like water when you trying to get an initial seal.

Agreed and as I have experience, OKO is just to thick and it clumps to one part of the inner tyre, when you do get a puncture it does not flow to that point, I have been in a race where I have had to find the hole, place that hole facing the ground and then bang the bike to dislodge the sealant so that gravity forces it downwards and to the hole, secondly you need lot more OMO in one tyre adding weight and a greater expense.
