As a noob I'd like to know if one has a flat tyre already, can you put tyre sealant in your tubes, pump it up and "be on your way" , or do you have to repair the puncture first, then put sealant in? and on the same topic.... once you have sealant in your tubes, do you still need those kits with the patches or don't you need that anymore?

Slime or sealant in your tubes will only protect you against piercings and at that very small piercings...like small thorns. Snakebites and big thorns will not be sealed by slime in the tubes.

My advise, rather convert your wheelset to proper tubeless...will set you free

If, you can get sealant into the tubes, yes you can.

Once sealant in tubes, you should be good to go, until the stans dry.

@Wubani - I'm looking into going tubeless in a few months time. @Meexo , So I understand correctly, if you can get sealant in, you put it in, pump up the tyre, give it a few spins and then keep on riding? Maybe I should also look into tyre liners...

Yes for thorn holes and minor holes. I use sealant in my roadie tubes with success.

What rouxtjie said, don't waste time or money on liners or anything, just go tjoepless. Search Ghetto Tubeless here on thehub or even google or youtjoep

Does sealant work at 7+ bar?

Remember reading a thread that said at high pressure and for road bikes sealant gets spotty. So might or might not.

Petz your tjoep demnit!

Then go tjoepless!

If you can't - learn how to.

I've come across a number of cyclists who can't patch a tube - rd and mtb.
