Good to see politicians on bikes. Didn't Boris do a lot for bikes in London? The Jhb Minister who rode CM with us a few years ago is setting up bike lanes in JHB.. Edenvale used to have a local Mayors challenge, when they could fit on bikes, so the more, the merrier..

Yes, good to see when they are actually cycling and not just photo opportunities.

Boris cycles to his office, doesn't believe in helmets, but yes he has done a lot for cycling in London.

Here, most politicians are into fancy cars as status symbols, although Mayor Parks is apparently cycling a bit now. and the GP MEC for Transport is a roadie.

Don't know "Minister" Alan Winde, he's a nobody to me.

I bet if he walked into the shop no one would necessarily recognise him , he would have to gooi a "Do YOU know who I AM?"

In any case, I hope he got a good deal?

On the contrary.

Alan is not a Cabinet minister, but an MEC in the Western Cape government.

He lost his brother at age 16 in a cycling accident and Cycling safety is accordingly of particular interest to him.

He was instrumental in finding common ground between the Moonlight mass and the City of Cape Town (even "signing" personal responsibility for the event.
