Enduro Seals vs. Fox Seals

Hubbers,

Time to service my Fox fork. Who is riding with the Enduro seals, and is it superior to the std Fox seals?

Also, which LBS has Fox Racing Shox Suspension Fluid in stock?

Also, Enduro seals have slightly higher stiction at the beginning, but once they bed in they're great. They last longer than the OEM seals, but can be slightly harder on stanchions and are never quite as slippery.

Are the newer Fox's still running SKF seals?

Yup. They ditched NOK on their forks after issues with stanchion wear AFAIK.

Shock seals are still NOK though.

I don't think there is much to choose between them. They both seem to perform fine between services. Any malfunction, if you are unlucky, is likely to happen pretty soon after the service or otherwise the problems occur when you push the service limits. I would go on price.

Then there's still nothing in it. Well, maybe 5 bucks.

Yes, but at 2x the price I'm not sure why you'd want to...

Heard some people rave about those SKF seals though, like supa butter, should help extend the life of your stanchions and get slightly reduced stiction as a bonus.

How much is a 32mm pair approx and compared to Rs or enduro?

Would bearing man have them or does SKF make them oem specifically for Fox?

Hmmm... I'm not sure if the current crop are the same as the SKF Race seals that were doing the rounds a few years back, which I think are the ones you're talking about. Those were designed to last a few days and then be chucked, IIRC.

I doubt you'll notice a massive difference between the RS and the OEM Fox seals - IMO at least half of the Fox's plushness comes from the internals.

If you want to try it, retail's a shade under R 400 a set - much the same price as the Enduros. RS are about half that.

I Don't think Enduro seals are as good as the SKF seals.  More muck seems to find its way into the oil and contaminate felt washers etc....

OK when new but don't have that springy thing to keep tension and seal tight.

My point of view anyway.
