My little punt for today:

OPQ wins the TTT with Tony Martin having taken some huge turns on the front, putting Uran in to the red jersey.

My team pick: besides the obvious one being Movistar, I’ve got a sneaking suspicion we'll be seeing quite a bit of Garmin-Sharp this Vuelta.

My pick for young rider: again, besides the obvious one being Quintana, I'm picking young Ozzie Rohan Dennis for a breakout performance.

My sprinter pick: Bouhanni.

My GC pick: Dunno. Pretty wide open, which is awesome. Please god let everyone stay on their bikes and stay healthy so that we can have a proper contest between the best in week 3 for a change.

I hear Froome fell again..what the hell guy stop looking at your freaking stem.

I know what you mean! What's the point of having some flippin' "special" riding style which gives you a breathing advantage, if you fall off and break hands and wrists in the first 5 days of a race and have to go home??

MTN off first. Great send-off there. Goosebumps!

It's now live on channel 207.

Watching the Eurosport feed and MTN dont have a camera following them. Sucks man :(

Giant Shimano 14:29

[On a side note - Eurosport has to be worse than ESPN when it comes to the number of adverts]

All those MTN boys can now quite rightly claim to their future grandchildren that they crossed the finish line first in a grand tour stage :)

****. They get to say they started a Grand Tour. More than the rest of us could ever dream to achieve. Feeling pretty chuffed for them.

AG2R-La Mondiale has Carlos Betancur as their team leader. The Colombian doesn't look totally race ready with pictures showing him with a few extra pounds around the middle.

Movistar will be the last team to leave the start this evening. The Spanish team comes with Giro d'Italia champion Nairo Quintana and 2009 Vuelta champion Alejandro Valverde. Quintana is the big favourite for victory, but he says the pressure is on his rivals and not him.

!!!

Cannondale begin their final grand tour, with the team set to disbandon at the end of the season. Peter Sagan is back at the Vuelta and looking for stage victories.
