I think the Look is the beter bike ...BUT!!!!! WAAAAAAAAAY over priced.

I'd go with the Tarmac. Like the compact geometry.

My 2C.

Hawk, as 101 says, the Look is da-sh|t, but at that price you have sooooo much more to buy.

LOOK, but would prefer the 585, not mad about the integrated seat post and you can save yourself several grand.

Tour magazine tested a 595 and an SL2 in their big 2008 frame test. Results were:

Price: 595: 3300 euro, sl2: 2500 euro

mass: grams (frame/fork/headset) 595: 1150/388/75    sl2: 997/402/62

fork torsional stiffness (Nm/degree) 595: 78  sl2: 94

fork lateral stiffness (N/mm) 595: 44  sl2: 49

BB stiffness (N/mm) 595: 53  sl2: 60

comfort frame [vertical stiffness of rear dropout, less = more comfort] (N/mm)

595: 188  sl2: 190

comfort fork [vertical stiffnes of fork, less=more comfort] (N/mm

595: 96 sl2: 110

So not much in it from what can be measured in engineering values. The Look is slightly heavier, the sl2 is slightly more stiff in all aspects. The stiffness comes at a price, as the Look is more comfortable. The Look is more costly, but imo the better looking (excuse pun) of the 2, especialy if you can still get an all white one.

A very important consideration would be the angle of the seat tube and the angle of the head tube, should check those as well before deciding.

The all white 595 is simply awesome!!Smile But all gone. The Ultra frame(one pictured) is 15% stiffer than the Origin one as tested. Best of both worlds......

went & checked, the frame values I posted above is for the 595 Ultra, my bad, I should have said so, but I did not know they had a 595 and a 595 Ultra in production.

The sl2 is a Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL2.

In all their tests they usually use size 56 frames.Christie2008-03-11 08:04:26

I would take the LOOK

But does it have to be so expensive?!

PArlee as well, darn I undestand the implication of low production runs but come on, EURO3300 is R37K in our language. There are plenty of whole bikes that will meet the need.
