None of these attackers are taking the bikes for their own use. They are taking them because there is a demand for them, and for the parts on them. If every cyclist stops buying 2nd hand bikes or parts off OLX, Gumtree and other similar sites, there will be no demand, and these attacks will die out. Only buy used parts from a source you can trust or someone you know, that "bargain" may well be feeding this demand.

So, in essence, because I ride alone and in the dark, it's only a matter of time before I get whacked by someone with no regard for life or limb? Don't you just LOVE this place?

Sepia, I commute along that same stretch. I live just off Rodger Sishi.

Ja, but you are FAST (and young)!!! Going to give up this riding to work thing. The M19 slays me every time. Was looking for an excuse to pack this crazy addiction in. Robbers x 1, Commuters x 0.

I am part of Plumstead neighbourhood watch and yesterday I -received a report of a cyclist being attacked / robbed on Plumstead main road, 31.07.2014, at 05:20 am. Bike and Heart rate monitor were stolen. I didn’t see anything in the press or on the Hub.

Be aware out there.
