We are all adults (mostly i hope)here,so the blame game will not work for the masses.

Take it on the chin-apologize for getting sucked into the top level pressures of competition and come back stronger then ever :)

Rules are not help up firmly...

Nolan Hoffman got done for testosterone without telling SAIDS and got an 18 month ban....6 months off for "remorse" - surely BS gets a few bonus months for telling SAIDS before hand that he took drugs?

I think two things suck:

1) BS took performance enhancing drugs.

2) SAIDS went ahead and bust him knowing full well he was taking drugs.

Surely in some sane world SAIDS would have picked up on the word TESTOSTERONE at any one of the many forms BS filled in and told him to stop - and stopped him competing for a few months rather than ignoring it completely then busting him for the very drugs he told them he was taking?

Or sat him down and said - you can either take the drugs OR carrry on cycling professionally.

Or communicated with him on any level.

Any solution is better than what happened.

Dumb, dumber and dumberer - both BS and SAIDS. This case destroys the credibility of both parties.

Okay this kinda makes me angry.. why the hell did Hoffman only get 6 months while BS gets what 24 months? Is it possibly because if the backlash because of their criticism towards SAIDS?

Is BS perhaps not more upset about the lenghty ban than the ban itself. .

Everybody is critical of SAIDS, very easy to be at a distance. Imagine doing their job, you are under pressure from the public to catch people, then when you do you get moaned at....

Interesting tweet I saw lastnight, shows the magnitude of what organizations like them are up against.

@MedOfCycling: QUIZ: If you test 5% of athlete pool of 1000 per month, how long to detect a 3x/month doper? http://t.co/49N0rC9uRz

Hoffman got the reduction for pleading guilty.

Aaah okay thanks... so if you plead guilty they reduce your sentence. .

The official explanation:

"Hoffman admitted guilt, showed remorse for his actions and gave the hearing panel his full co-operation," CSA said.

"The CSA anti-doping disciplinary panel that met in Bloemfontein on February 3 subsequently reduced the suspension by six months dating back to the date of sample collection."

what really annoys me is there is a 23 pages dedicated to a cheat, but zero pages dedicated to our new World Champ in the 30-34 age category....so i'll say it here...a big up to Nedene Cahill who won gold and natalie bergstrom who won silver in her age group.

ok..you can go back to discussing cheating now

Great point stretch....but note that this will probably go down as the last time he is relevant enough to even justify a thread. He doesnt matter enough anymore...pity that everything he has done / accomplished will now be tainted with a doping cloud...Also wonder he justified it in his head considering it has all gone for a ball of crap now.

pure e-speculation here, but I suspect they were on to him long before the TUE.....hence the reason for getting it prescribed etc.

If you are a team owner, you should know the rules and stick by the rules.

I understand from the previous messages (queen b i think and BS statement) that he chatted to a representative of SAIDS and confirmed the TUE all in emails and declared the TUE on his forms. There are 2 problems with this:

1.BS never complied with the correct rules/procedure

2. The representative should have alerted Brandon of the correct procedure (we are unsure if she did or did not)

But in any case, in this day an age of professional sport and drug testing, teams (especially owners) should be fully aware of all rules and procedures and especially list of banned drugs.

My 2 cents.
