Rosebank Group ride - Engen garage

What time does the Rosebank Engen group start during the week? Is there faster / slower days in this group?

 

I'm in Jo'burg for 1 month looking for weekday morning group to join for DC training. Only got my MTB here, so would prefer to start on a slower day first to see If I can handle their pace?

 

Or any other group recommendations?

They start at 5am. On a tueday there are 2 groups and then Friday is the "coffee ride".

I suggest come on a Friday and see how you handle it.

There a quite a few mtn bikers so the pace is fairly relaxed (avg 25km/hr) then next best is Tues and ride in the B batch.

Where is the Engen in Rosebank? How long is the ride?

In Rosebank

It's by the McDonalds/Woolies opposite the new Standard Bank building.

They do roughly 35km to 45kms during the week.

There are some racing snakes there so the pace is hot up front

@ Yettiboy - The Engen is on Oxford (McDonald's opposite the Standard Bank Building)

Corner Glenhove and Oxford (at McDonalds). Route is different everyday but generally about 38km roundtrip

That's embarrasing, I am sitting in the above mentioned building looking over the Engen, but for the life of me this morning I couldn't think where there was an Engen in Rosebank......

I join this group on Fridays on my mtb (1x10). Not too hard to keep up.... Nice bunch, and coffee is always delicious.

This group is known as ICG - used to ride from the Illovo Cycle shop before moving to the Engen about 2 years ago

Tuesday are out to bedfordview, hard upfront, easier at the back(got dropped from the front group, while doing 300W on the mtb this morning)

Wednesdays they do the same route as the E2E guys pretty hard

Thursday's they climb but pace is relaxed between climbs

Friday is coffee ride as mentioned
