Titan bikes are good value for money, most of todays frames come from china..including some of the big brands..as far as I know even Cannondale comes from the far east..designed in the us...made in Taiwan.. Nothing wrong with a Titan.

Yip, proud owner of new Cannondale and massive sticker on the bottom stating "MADE IN TAIWAN".....Thats the way things go to save costs I suppose.

Some of my mates ride Titans, and REALLY abuse their bikes....They just don't break....Never say never though.

Also consider the 029/129 MOMSEN, Very capable and well specced bikes that will last for a long time.

Be aware of the fact that you will start off your MTB "hobby" like us all and very soon realise you want bigger, better, more gears, less gears, lighter bike, etc etc etc the list never ends.

So save yourself some money and go buy yourself a Cannondale Scalpel.....

LOL, Welcome to our world.

Remember to: ALWAYS HAVE A BLAST!! no matter what you ride.

Buy a helmet and some gloves. Buy the bike that fits you and feels comfy to ride rather than one that "is a good deal" or "looks nice". It is important to get the right size frame for your size...then you can fine tune. If you get a frame too big or too small then adjusting saddle, stem and bars won't work

Oh dear. Another wife will see less of her dearest. Ha ha!! All jokes aside. Do not go dirt cheap from the start. Soon you will want better and then it becomes a big eina in the budget and home.

Sorry also, decide what type of riding you want to do. Will it be trails cross country, downhill or freeride. Ask youre local bike shop for assistance.

Believe me you dont want the wrong type of bike for r the wrong application.

Also if you are short and skinny do not buy a 29er rather a 27.5 or even 26. The effort to get that 29er on top of a steep hill is tremendous. Believe me

welcome, make sure the bike fits you well.

If you taking the 29er Titan, you probably leaning towards doing marathon/cross country riding.

I started out on a 26er Trail bike and now I'm riding a 29er cross country and just loving it. So you might start out in baggies and swop to lycra or vice versa,

either way, just make sure you ride more than what you type on the hub

Nothing wrong with a TITAN as a start up and even longer. Titan is a MERIDA brand so you safe there.

Find a good LBS (Local Bike Shop) and build a relationship with them, this helps when you need help, advice, tips and a freebie now and then. Also ask for Demo bikes, this way you can test a few before you sign and swipe the credit card.

There are plenty choices out there so good luck.

SAFE CYCLING!!

Hi, I recently bought a Titan 29er CRUZ , also a weekend bike, and maybe a "once around the block" week night ride, and took it to the Magick Forest here in CT. I can't find anything wrong with it. I bought it mainly due to the price. (as it's all I can afford) Starting out is crazy expensive. I'm still used to the bikes being made of lead when I was in high school, so for me it's a light bike. and if I read the specs correctly, the components aren't to shabby for a entry level bike. It took me a short while to get used to the massive wheels, but I love my cheapy. Hope you come right bud.

Titan's are bomb-proof! They might not have the brand-cachet of other manufacturers, but they are good value for money bikes, particularly as entry level bikes.
