Has anyone actually ever seen any scientific reasoning to justify a fatbike?

(you know, like Giant and 27.5ers)

Don't think there is any way to justify having a fatbike in SA. But why the need to justify it??

what is this "scientific" you speak of? and who ever needed it to justify the purchase of a new bike?

Now you know better than that...

Justification comes AFTER the purchase. ;)

I read it in the other thread (too lazy to find it). Someone was asking about the ride on beach sand...

Looks like it works to me

fun in what way? not picking a fight, just want to know.

Fun, different, no stress...

Riding SSers, rigids, commuters, city bikes, fat bikes makes riding less stressful for me. I'm not racing, not training - there is no aim other than to ride your bike like you did when you were 5. The joy is in just riding - not how much it cost or weighs.

So this really is kind of like dumping massive tyres on your Land Rover, just so you can have more fun with it?

If you can't drive at 140Km/h, who cares!

(Dammit - this is startingto sound like a good idea.)
