I run a 140 Revelation on my OneTen with no hassle - on the Pyga it is a perfect combination, so lets hope you have a similar experience with your Spesh

Hmmm.....I was told by the guys at westrand cycles, that the Spez bikes gets designed with specific components in mind to perform in a specific way. Changing the fork from a 110mm to a 140mm will be very interesting to see if the bike's handling is improved or not. I personally think the design geometry & components story is a sales pitch. Lets see...........subscribed.

Hi. ..I had the fork changed to a 130mm before the ride. We did tokai...did all the single tracks. ..ride was awesome...the fork still probably need some minor adjustments, but behaved well...Going to tweak it some more to get the best out of it. In the end the difference between the 140mm and the 130mm is negligible in my humble opinion...but then again I'm no expert. Measured axle to crown now and it was about 1.5cm longer than my original 110mm fork...such a small difference

I just put a 140mm revelation fork on a specialized camber comp 2014. It has a 110mm rear shock. Any thoughts, experiences, advice, comments?? Only riding it this weekend!

@Speeder: could you may send me a pic of your camber comp with the 130mm or 140mm fork. I m riding the same bike and I m thinking about getting a 130mm too.

The general rule of thumb is that you shouldn't throw a fork on a bike when the forks travel would exceed the rear travel by 20mm. It's in the mtb declaration of indepence or something. The geometry changes: IE: slacker head angle but also higher bb. 

 

These changes in geometry will affect how the bike rides. The slacker head may inspire more confidence going down. But the higher bb will make railing berms a little harder.

There's always a give and take. A compromise or 2 somewhere. 

 

You may also subject your frame to forces and stresses it wasn't intended to handle.

(head tube welds, etc) You may also compromise your warranty if a bike specifically states that it is intended for use with a fork in a specific range of travel.

 

Having said that unless you're Aaron Gwin you're not really going to notice if your bb is 10mm higher than it was before. Unless you ride like Loic Bruni you not really going to subject your frame to those unintended stresses continuously either. 

 

The talk about being thrown off your bike because of the difference in front and rear travel. Its something to remember but nothing to lose sleep over. Sure it can happen.

But as long as you remember that your new fork didn't turn your Spez Camber into a

Spez Demo. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Play around with your sag, rebound and compression settings on the front and rear so to find the sweetspot. You should be fine.

 

I've done it before. 100mm bike with 130mm fork. 150mm bike with 180mm fork.
