RastaMan Posted October 7, 2014 Share Pretty much. At the time I was not sure if it was broken, saw my time was 2h46 and figured I should just get back up and finish, I could still break 3hours I thought. But now I am suffering, the bone actually broke in half. So now sitting in hospital waiting for them to plate it.Myles is this you? Respect dude well done on finishing only adding my 2 cents now. had to rush to the airport after the race.I had an awesome race, the guy in the Thule kit broke away after 2 km.I kept on warning the guys he is strong enough to make it, for the first 40 km nobody believed me, but when they realized we are not catching him, they started to believe, for the first race in a while the A group worked together and we managed to catch him at the 102 km mark. Respect to that guy as well. When the sprint came I was ahead with 100 meters to go and got passed on the very last bit. Ended up in 4th place. Then to my amusement I get a call from a mate saying they want me on the podium to collect prize money? Apparently the guys who got 1st and 2nd had full racing licenses so they where skipped with the price money. I was under the impression the is only prize money for elites and not open groups, or does this happen in every race?

Wez-O Posted October 7, 2014 Share Racetec has updated the seeding and includes R4V.They gave it a really **** beta of 0.77.One wonders where the PedalPower seeding website gets the winning time of 2:39 from? The fastest 110km rider was a tandem at 2:44 followed by the VA's at 2:46. One should email them and ask. Winning time this year was 6 minutes faster. Does that really take the beta from 1.26 down to 0.77?

IceCreamMan Posted October 8, 2014 Share Has everyone's PPA seeding index been updated to reflect their R4V result? Mine hasn't yet and I would have expected it to be updated by now...checked, mine has

Frosty Posted October 8, 2014 Share I contacted PedalPower about the winning time, and they have raised this with Racetec.Who did you contact? By email or phone number? I see the 120Km Carnival City (VA and VB ) time shows an index of 200 (winner's time shows 5:22:53) - I know of at least 200 Vets that won't be happy with that. Not sure what the 103Km would show, considering there were 3 different distances (160km (Elite), 120 (VA & VB ) and 103 (everyone else).
BigT4 Posted October 9, 2014 Share That Index of 200 also shows on the 102km and I rode a sub 3 that day so kinda feel being robbed. I thought each distance had a different rating.

I contacted info@pedalpower.org.za and they have apparently taken it up with RaceTec who supplied them with the "incorrect" winners time. In your instance though, wasn't the Carnival City actually timed by Championchip and thus it shouldn't actually affect the PedalPower seeding system? In your instance though, wasn't the Carnival City actually timed by Championchip and thus it shouldn't actually affect the PedalPower seeding system?I put my race organising committee hat on and sent a mail to "info at pedalpower dot org dot za" from the club account explaining why we (race organisers) have 4 race distances and gave them all the information for each distance as well as each race distance winner's time). I even included a comparison from as far back as 2008/9 when the Elite's last rode 103Km. If you look at the races not used for the seeding calculation, you'll see they've used the race times from 2012 and 2013 - many of our club members noticed their Argus seeding had the 2013 event as part of the calculation. So with 2014 also showing, I'm hoping they will consider updating it. IMO, their system is (1) up to date, (2) transparent, (3) fairly reliable and (4) the best we have - all races should consider using them, even if it costs a small amount (service/admin fee). Frosty Posted October 9, 2014 Share Got a very quick response from PPA, but only to advise that the person responsible for seeding is currently working on other queries. They will reply as soon as possible. It's not going to make a difference for the short term races, but perhaps for the racing in the New Year.
