Sometimes a bit of a wiggle helps! What I did see this weekend was how easily a rock can snap your valve right off! From now on I will also carry a spare valve!

Did try a wiggle. Didn't work. A whole valve or just a core?

This may or may not be your problem but worth remembering for the future. If you run sealant in your tyres or tubes remove the valve core and wipe a bit of vaseline on the seal of the core that way you stop the sealant from blocking the valve.

whole valve.

duct tape is always a good to fix things

And replacing the valve on a choobless setup ad hoc like that isn't an issue? Do you carry extra sealant too?

Yip...probably the most handy little bit of liquid...about 60ml I think, dump into valve core...dont break bead, bomb. Will get you home everyday of the week.

As mentioned by Plentipotential. Often a bit of the Stan's liquid goes rubbery and block the valve core in the inside. take out the valve core and wipe inside bit and see that it moves up and down freely.

Best way to replace sealant liquid is through the valve. Keeps the bead seal intact and the tyre pumps up every time.

Tyre manufacturers regard the valve cap as the primary seal....the valve is just to assist in pumping it up without losing air. In industry much the same logic applies in the way that check valves are used.
