Give us more details.

  1. MTB or Road?
  2. What bike will it be going on?
  3. What is it you're after in your quest for going carbon?
  4. How tall are you?

It's not carbon, but you can't beat this on value for money: Ritchey WCS Logic 2 Handlebar (Wet White) (40cm C/C) @ R399.00

http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/ritchey-wcs-logic-2-handlebar-wet-white

Otherwise, you should be looking at something like this: FSA K-Force Compact Handlebar (42cm C/C) @  R 2599.00

 http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/fsa-k-force-compact-handlebar

Approx 25g difference...

I would have a bike fit done, and based from this, would buy a handle bar.

you wouldn't want to spend 3k on handle bars only to find out that it is not suited for you...

My current ones are currently 42 measured outside to outside.

my prediciment here is do i buy a ravex or a ricthey? is there really that much of a difference besides just the brand?

Is your plan to upgrade for the sake of doing an upgrade?

My own upgrade plan is simple. I buy trying to get the most bang from my buck, holding onto the old kit, so that if I sell and upgrade a whole bike later I get to put the original part back with that sale and keep the upgrade part for ongoing transplant to the new steed.

Work out a strategy you are happy to base your decisions against.

It is rad to make your bike unique in some way or another!

Other than the above guys, I buy stuff because it is PRETTY!

So Carbon bars is a must for any road bike.

I would have a look at FSA, Ritchey, Zipp.

I have had "cheap" carbon bars that are comfortable and I have had expensive bars that are not.

Flat top bars tend to be a bit big for girl's hands so I will stay with round bars.  Also if you want to mount a light or a Garmin then round bars are just easier.

Width, look for around 42 that you have at the moment.  It is what you are used to.

Good luck and ENJOY!  The buying stuff is half the fun!

If you want carbon bars they have to be an ergo model. The top bar is aero shaped and way more comfortable than the round one's. Depending on your hand size and if you ride in drops alot the ergo bend is a must. Ritchey WCS EVO are awesome bars. FSA's Wing bars are awesome too. There is a white 42cm in classifieds.
