Sad part is they can ask what they want and they will still get a full entry!

It wasnt full last year. Even at that price. Expect to see a lot less riders this year at R300+ entry fee, myself included. Its just not that special.

Not true.  We tried to get in last year, but all entries were sold out.

Could be.  I tried to get an entry 2 weeks before the race, but the site said all entries were sold out, which was not the case the previous year.  Was a surprise to me.  Must say I did not phone them to beg for entries.

I love the race, but I agree that R300+ is starting to bite.  But then, it is getting worse with MTB races.  Have you seen the prices for some of those lately.  We want to do the Olives this weekend, and the 25km race is R170 bucks, without the CSA day licence.

I think thats why some of us are so upset at these ridiculous prices. Cycling was never a sport for the rich, like golf, polo etc etc. But it is heading in that direction fast, I doubt we can stop it, but we can at least bitch and moan on here. If I do durbie dash and buffet olives this weekend, thats R450, x 2, cause my girlfriend rides aswell. Factor in fuel, etc etc etc, it becomes ridiculous.

I dont mind paying R400  for Argus, honestly, its worth every penny. But R300 for Die Burger, no fanks.

Just a query hubbers, the 99er of this year ...was that a seeding race for next year's Argus or was it for this year...? Did not do it...

Next year's 99er is on the 7th Feb...would that be to close to be a seeding for the 2015 Argus...?

Thanx

They did and will use it for the cycle tour seeding. It's the week before they send out seeding. Bumped mine up nicely last year.

Just a heads up, there is about a km of dirt road which we covered at 50km/h this year, if you not prepared to gun the dirt road etc maybe die burger a good call.
