How does he climb the Mortirolo in 65min with an avg heart rate of only 137BMP. Mine would be breaking the barriers

Infact his avg for the whole day was only 133...

They do 5-6 hour rides 6 days a week for many months.

And optimal nutrition and rest (no Woolworths chewy sweets and Lindt choccies)

That's how they keep that engine purring so steadily.

Thanks for that. Interesting read. Nothing new but when put together in a timeline like that it makes for ugly reading.

Yup, it is alway good to see what you know in bits put in to one complete jigsaw puzzle.

Lana might land the nr 1 berth for Vuelta.

Interesting shuffling possible there at Astana.

Admire Aru's fighting spirit.

He's young and developing and he will be a contender for many seasons.

He'll feel under pressure to stay on the podium.

He had his career best to date in a GT last year @ the Vuelta coming in 28th on the log.

Jeez! Now that is a serious shady past. Only the SA government tops them with criminal records

Ja

Wouldn't surprise me if Lance had Bert's Beef contaminated as payback for the ass whipping the previous yr.[emoji6] I wouldn't put anything past Lance and Bruyneel hey.. and I kinda like that conspiracy theory.

Pulled this post from another forum:

Shall we count the number of Astana issues?
  • Formed firectly out of Liberty Seguros-Wurth as they collapse under Puerto, taking on many of the implicated riders and staff.
  • First positive test was April '07, just 4 months into it's existence as a unique team (Kessler).
  • Mazzoleni left the team under doping allegations in July and was subsequently suspended for two years.
  • Vinokuorv's positive test in the Tour also in July '07.
  • Kasechking followed suit in August.
  • Redondo rounded out 2007 with another case of doping.
  • This brought in Bryuneel and a number of ex-Discovery guys, who we now know were pretty much all rotten.
  • Gusev was caught out for irregular-blood values later that year.
  • Lance joined in '09 and we know about him now.
  • Bazayev fell foul of location declaration issues, which has only ever meant one thing.
  • Contador's '10 TDF positive was up next.
  • Kreuzigers current problems stem back to his 2011 Astana season.
  • 2012 was when the USADA stuff blew up big time implicating many former riders, current staff and doctors.
  • 2014 of course was of course Ignlisnkiy and Ignlinskiy.
  • Then we had the Continental team's problems of Davidenok.

That's more than 2 positive's per year! Not including signing up riders with dodgy histories like Scarponi, LLS, Kloeden, Savoldeli, Horner, Di Gregorio, Petrov and their issues with Pellizotti.... amongst others...

Hey guys,

I could see the stage yesterday and only saw 10 min of highlights but ... what exactly happened ?

I have it as Contador had a puncture and apparently Astana went full gas to make a gap on him... is this true???

That it is..

You need to watch the stage though..

It's one of those stages that people will speak of for many many years..

Possibly one of the best stages in racing that I have ever seen. (Yes fair enough I have many)

Nothing to debate.. Landa himself said they knew he had a problem and decided to make it hard and teamed up with Katusha to do so.

Also note you play the long game. Help here.. 'give' stage win there.. etc.. Aru was utterly alone yesterday.. no help from no one, where as AC received a lot of help from other teams.. astana are going to find themselves alone and no one will assist them when they need it most.

I can promise you the first team that will help out tinkoff when needed will be Lotto jumbo. .

Astana are burning bridges everywhere.

I totally agree...

That is tappit to attack someone that has a puncture or a mechanical !

As i got it it the SECOND time Astana does this... last year in the tour they attacked him when the doctor attended Alberto when he had that terrible crash... to attack someone like that is SICK!!!! i hope the peloton takes note and do this to Astana !!! Wish astana can loose their license for good... they are tooooo much in the news!

The Directeur Sportive of Astana admitted that they knew 'Berto was in mech trouble and tried to take advantage of the situation, collaborating with Katusha.

So, as unpopular as it is, they have made an honest decision.

Desperate times, desperate measures, I guess.

I have never been a fan of Contador for verisous reasons, (As and Andy Schleck fan i couldn't forgive the #Chaingate saga & The Tainted Beef all while in baby blue Astana Kit), I have however always known he has serious talent but after yesterdays stage i feel compelled to say "Everyone has made mistakes , I'm no angel so forgive and move on."

I have so much respect for him now, and even more hatred for Astana and what their culture inside the team stands for.

As for Kruijswijk, i Think Lotto Jumbo have a massive talent on their hands here. They as a team are going to be a major player soon with the likes of him, Sep Vanmarcke, Wilco Kelderman.

I reckon we all go through this like/dislike sequencing when it comes to Pro riders. We may not like a certain individual for whatever reason, but deep down I think we can't NOT respect and admire them for what they are able to do on a bike.

Which is why switching between like/dislike happens almost seamlessly.

I didn't like Berto a few years ago, but that's changed. I liked Andy at one point. With LA I went from fan, to simply dislike and cant stand him.
